I would like a trim piece for that section that matches the darker metal trim piece in the car, both in color and in touch.
Are you talking about the grey trim piece that goes across the dash above the center vent? If so, I like that idea.

I'm contemplating on ordering this intake from corksport now that it is available. Makes the engine compartment look more aggressive and supposedly ads some horsepower and torque as well. I'm not experienced though with adding this does anyone think it's worth it?

I doubt it adds any performance. If you know anything about current Mazdaโ€™s ECMs, they limit any performance gains without a proper tune. And the ECMs are very difficult to crack and works with.

Yeah that's what I'm confused about because corksport supposedly did a dyno test and they have a graph that shows improvement in performance.
 
I'm in the same boat. Debating on getting it for extra sound, engine bay appearance, and probably unnoticeable hp gain. Aside from the SRI, they are also coming out with an inlet pipe. Maybe with the full setup, there will be some noticeable differences.

I will say all my experience has been with Miatas (from every generation), and the latest ECM in the ND2 has been very difficult for tuners to work with. This may not be the case for the CX50. As with any turbo application, making it breathe better is only going to help. But manufactures have become much better with their designs and intakes donโ€™t add as much performance as they did 10-15 years ago. Not only this, but now manufactures are putting in performance targets in their tunes, so even with aftermarket parts, the cars wonโ€™t perform any better. They meet a threshold within the oem tune and stop there. A great example of this is the 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R. You could throw parts at it and nothing would be gained. Once tuned, it was a different story.
 
Has anyone gotten the shifter paddle extensions? Thinking about getting them for my new cx50 however not too sure how reliable the adhesive will be.

Still thinking about it, but undecided. Less worried about adhesive and more about if extensions will get in the way and start to get annoying. I also just want something in matte black that blends in. A lot seem to be made of carbon fiber (or, "carbon fiber" :ROFLMAO: ) and in bright reds and blues.

Also, where I place my hands on the wheel, the factory ones seem to be right there within easy reach for me.

PS: for anyone interested, make sure you get the right profile extensions. Mazda has a couple different paddle shapes. I think the 50 is the same as the 2020 forward MZD 3 and CX30.

Furthermore, I called to see what my dealer's service department's stance was on aftermarket parts. I know per the law they cannot deny service and should an engine issue present itself, must be able to directly tie the mod to the issue to deny the warranty. That said, after my conversation with the service manager, I didn't get the gut feeling that they were 1.) Knowledgeable on mods 2.) Willing to keep my engine warranty intact if an issue arises.

They kept saying the engine would more than likely need remapping after adding the intake, FALSE !!!, and doing so would automatically void the entire engine warranty immediately. Also, without directly saying it, I felt like they would do everything they could to tie the intake to a given engine issue to say to Mazda they could void the warranty.

Curious if other owners have or can call their service department to ask about aftermarket engine mods, specifically an air intake, to see what they say. Thanks in advance.
 
I cannot recommend the mikstoreph TPU clear film. I received both the cluster and transmission film from them and am disappointed. The cluster film is not wide enough and leaves gaps at the edges, it's not super noticeable but still not a perfect fit. The transmission film is too wide for the area by about 1/8 of an inch. I assume they are just going off of the CX-30 specs which I have no idea if they are identical in those areas. I was skeptical about buying from them since they are in the Philippines and do not have this car to physically look at to nail down their products. I was right. I don't have a pic of the cluster just yet, as I am waiting on a replacement. I am not asking for a transmission replacement as Xpel now has the same product and more. I plan on having a local Xpel pro install the precut kit on the transmission area. Curious as to why Xpel doesn't make a cluster film yet. Paint Protection Film Pre-Cut Kits

If the intake is providing more air to the engine, I would think you would need a tune to account for that. The engine is setup for a particular mixture of air and fuel. If you change that mixture, you likely need to remap the tune. If you are looking for a better sound, an intake will do the trick. Otherwise, they donโ€˜t really offer much benefit.

As for warranty, I donโ€™t know how Mazda is, but I would be surprised if a dealer or manufacturer would be able to deny a claim due to an air intake. Having said that, what I heard about Subaru denying warranty claims for any mods on WRX led me to a personal policy of not doing any sort of engine mods while under warranty.
 
What cosmetic mod this Mazda really needs is replacement faux grilles at the sides of the front and back bumpers (those little brackets at sides). The pattern in those grilles is a jarring mismatch to that in the main front grille (looking at it now from the window). I wonder if there is a replacement for those little grille inserts -- even just a blank solid piece of plastic would be better.

Iโ€™ll add my $0.02โ€ฆ.I just traded my 2016 Mazda3 2.0 in, I had the CorkSport SRI and I can attest 1. It was very well built 2. It sounded great. 3. It was well engineered and easy to install. But it added zero power, in fact my gas mileage dropped from an average 38mpg to 35mpg.
My only concern with the CX50 is the engine is just a little โ€œbuzzieโ€. I donโ€™t know if the added intake noise will enhance the buzziness, or make it sound better.
Just my opinion, the loss in mileage isnโ€™t worth the enhanced soundโ€ฆespecially since there was no added performance.
I think the guys over at CorkSport (and Racing Beat) provide a great service for us Mazda ownersโ€ฆ.Iโ€™m interested to see/hear their Cat Back exhaust when theyโ€™re available.

Magnaflow should have an axle back soon.
I had one for my CX30 and it almost fit the 50. Couple of minor mods and should work.
Not obnoxious, and gives a bit of a nice deep tone when on the gas.
Otherwise not to noticeable in regular style driving.
Super easy install.

Unless you want a minor raise in air volume from your intake, you're essentially paying hundreds of dollars for nothing. Nobody shows off engine bays anymore with all that plastic cladding. They offer zero hp increase without a tune. Zero. Billy from down the street can tell you he picked up 8 hp on his butt dyno but real dynos done by respectable shops know.
