I never have CarPlay problems. I'm on a gen old phone, though iPhone 13 Pro Max, which I keep on the latest software and beta on it sometimes. Maybe some more info about your phone and software version would help.

Even when I first got it, before I did the updates, my CarPlay was solid. I had troubles with the MyMazda app before the upgrades, though.
On iPhone 14 Pro...was on iPhone 13 Pro before the 14 was released. On latest public software version since I don't run any of the betas on daily driver hardware. We'll be getting 16.3 next week and I'm hoping maybe that has some impact but who knows. This has been a consistent problem since I bought my 50 in April last year.

I hope you get to the bottom of it, I know that would frustrate me. So your TCU is on 1004 and your CMU is on 11022, right? Just making sure you are all the way current.

The only code you are running I'm not is the dynamic island part of the software. Plus, if you got it in April of 22, you had another phone prior. Same result, I take it.

I wish I could do more to offer assistance.

Yup, latest TCU and CMU as well as latest iOS...and yes, same results back on iOS 15 with iPhone 13 Pro. It'll either get worked out or it won't, not the end of the world either way but it does get annoying sometimes.

For those interested Mazda updates Firmware or Software for Genuine Mazda Connect about 1 to 2 times per year for Mazda Dealer Service Departments as a download file.

Mazda also uses auto OTA (over the air) firmware updating in high spec models which in most cases works fine provided you have a TCU Telematics Control Unit with the appropriate local phone carrier data set up.
Or you can update manually this firmware, this is usually done at Mazda Dealer Service Dept level if you complain of any Mazda Connect usage issue.
Unfortunately Mazda Dealers do not always update Firmware unless instructed to or again owner complains of a particular problem, like their cars CarPlay not working.

The reasons for updates are like any Software Updates to fix bugs and or features not working correctly, like CarPlay not working at all as on the first released CX-50's.

To check what is installed in your CX-50 right now is do the following..

CMU Software Version Verification Procedure
1. Turn the ignition to ACC or to ON.
2. Select ”Settings” on the Home screen.
3. Select “System Setting”.
4. Select “System Information”.
5. Select “Version Information”.
6. CMU System Software version number should be listed like 11008,
Gracenote is the music title file version and usually updates with any new firmware.
Can ONLY update the system you can Not downgrade to any earlier or older Versions.

In many cases unfortunately not all Mazda Dealers update your Firmware/Software as part of the normal Service Schedule. They only update if directed to do so by MNAO or Owner (you) complain of a particular problem with their Infotainment, called Mazda Connect.

So I advise you check the Version running in your CX-50 now by doing the above.

The Current Genuine Mazda Updateable Version for CX-50 is NA05_11022.

If your CX-50 is Below this number of 11022 like 11008 then yes you can update your cars Infotainment.
If your CX-50 is already on or Above 11022 then obviously you can not update as only 11022 file version is currently available at Mazda Dealer level.
On the production trim line at MTM level in most cases you will always see a later or a higher numbered Version.

Yes we can help you with a Genuine Mazda file version number NA05_11022 if you want a download copy to update yourself, please only message me here.

Each Country or Region usually has their own Versions and as the CX-50 is ONLY sold in North America DO NOT Attempt to update to ANY Higher Version from say any EU Mazda CX-60 because it is a later version or a higher number than yours, it is Not the same car as the CX-60 is not sold in North America. Firmware is not the same.

Only use NA05 (North America 05 is ONLY for CX-50 and only sold in NA).

It is not difficult to install and much much easier than Gen 6 in older Mazda's.
These files will not be publicly made available, however you can message me for the update file copy if your selling Mazda Dealer does not run the update for you.

As Mazda distribution only offers updates about 1 to 2 times per year in many cases If you have just bought your brand new CX-50 then the Version installed on the production line is always a newer or later version or a higher number than what Service Departments can offer. I suggest you check annually to see if an update is now available, if there is a later version you can if you wish update Connect yourself, an easy .Pdf Instructions are also provided.

ALSO NOTE: Do not rely on your Mazda Dealer to update your Firmware for Connect as most never will unless you complain of a specific issue or fault.

Worked like a charm, easy, detailed directions. Iphone connects fast and everytime now thankfully. Back and forth navigation between screens and Much faster than when I got the car last July!

Thanks!!!

Not certain of I already posted this before but here is the Changelog for latest Mazda Connect Firmware update.

Some vehicles may experience the symptoms mentioned below, which can be fixed with the latest software update (Version 7000C0A-NA05_11022).

NOTE: Over-the-air update (OTA) for MAZDA CONNECT is now available in the U.S. and Canada (CX-50 only). The instructions for OTA are posted in MGSS and on Mazda.ca (on Jan.30th) for the customer. The update can also be performed using a USB memory stick.

NOTE:
  • iPod, iPhone, and Apple CarPlayTM are registered trademarks of Apple Inc.
  • Android and Android AutoTM are registered trademarks of Google LLC.
  • The Bluetooth® word mark and logos are registered trademarks owned by Bluetooth SIG, Inc.

(Ver. 7000C0A-NA05_11022) fixes these software errors (bugs):
  • In very rare cases, the screen does not show a proper picture when receiving the Sirius XM data.
  • When using the navigation with head-up mode, the vehicle icon rotates.
  • A beep sounds every couple of minutes.
  • The language setting may not be accepted correctly.
  • The audio track may not pause when pressing the mute button.
  • The screen freezes when a smartphone receives messages under Bluetooth® connection.
  • The system cannot accept changing the audio source into Bluetooth® from the wireless CarPlayTM.
  • The vehicle location does not match on the navigation map.
  • A distance to the next turn-by-turn point does not change on the Active Driving Display when using CarPlayTM navigation.
  • The system fails to establish a wireless CarPlayTM connection

Also, I strongly suggest you update your TCU Hardware unit Firmware, this is basically just a small but important Driver for the TCU (Telematics Control Unit) and it's communicating correctly with your cars Mazda Connect hardware.

IF you are using an old or outdated TCU Driver you will never get OTA Firmware Updates working properly, again once you have updated your TCU you should see future Updated for Mazda Connect OTA and a much faster communicating with your MyMazda App and all of its features too.!
Also make sure you CHECK Tick in MyMazda App Settings.

NEW TCU Driver is 10004 (outdated and SHOULD NOT be in use is Versions 10001,10002, or 10003).

Plus, I know I keep saying this but unfortunately DO NOT rely on your Mazda Dealer to update ANY of your Firmware or MDARS Software updates for car ECU or BCU or any modules, unless you complain of a particular issue updates just wont happen, or you can doing most of it yourself manually with the GENUINE Mazda files I can supply you with, they are the exact same ones your Dealer will use. They are very easy to install, you just need a clean small 16GB or less USB Flash Drive, and a Windows PC to download the files and .Pdf instructions to and basic PC knowledge.

Please don't get me wrong most Mazda Dealers are very good, great even, but unfortunately their update policy of anything PC related to your Mazda is still poor during scheduled servicing.

Gotcha. I misunderstood and thought I needed something in the phone app as well. I am set for OTA updates. Thanks again.

It appears the temporary fix is to pull the Nav SD card. I haven’t tested it myself, but many in the Mazda subreddit have and it seems to fix the issue.
Hello I'm having Bluetooth randomly disconnect and reconnect. I'm not sure if this has been happening since the OTA update I initiated. I've only had the cx50 little over a week now. Where is the Nav SD located or any other fixes you can suggest. I've unpaired and repaired several times with my Samsung S20 plus 5G. Even deleted previous vehicles that showed in Bluetooth on my phone.

Software running 11022

Went to the dealer to get my plates and registration mentioned the bluetooth disconnect and reconnect constant problems. Tech observed it a few times. Did everything I did between the vehicle and my Samsung S20 plus 5G. Same problems. 3rd time they mentioned problems with iPhone which doesn't apply being android. Told me to make an appointment. Left a message for the service manager to answer what else can be done do not want to waste time if there's nothing else that can be done. Emailed mazda using the connect application to see what they say. Can't be working and dropping calls not.to mentioned the emergency 911 call feature if in an accident not connecting. Serious issue for me. Phones worked fine with several other calls not understanding why not this new CX50. Frustrating to say the least. Tech wanted to know if I had the same issue while connected using using android auto. Don't use it so don't know. Disabled in truck and phone so wasn't sure why that mattered. Any feedback or thoughts I'd appreciate

It mattered because they were/are trying to narrow down possible causes. The more information that can be had, the better chance of identifying the problem.

That said, I've not seen or heard of others having BT connectivity problems but I'm not sure how popular the S20 is to be able to replicate your situation more closely. It could be something to do with the combo of the BT hardware in the Mazda not playing nicely with the BT hardware used in the S20. It could also just be faulty hardware on the vehicle that needs to be replaced.

Regardless, I'd expect they are going to want as much info from you as possible and probably to get the vehicle in hand to check hardware. If it's specifically a you problem it's likely a bad BT radio on your vehicle. If it's more widespread, which Mazda Corp should know since they keep track of nationwide problem trends, it would likely need a software update to be published for the infotainment system.

I know, lots of blabbing by me. TLDR, they are likely going to want more info. Please be understanding that things that may not make sense to you will be asked/looked at in attempts to narrow down the problem.
