Mazda North America has released a TCU Software Update to Version 10004 for Mazda CX-50 to for MyMazda App communication issues.

YOU MUST MESSAGE ME FOR LINK FOR FILE TO UPDATE TCU

TCU means..
TELECOMMUNICATION CONTROL UNIT

The TCU is a small hardware unit under dash which DATA connects your MyMazda App (your phone) to the car for remote features and with Mazda Servers.

A new release TCU Driver Update Version 10003 10004 is specific for and only for Mazda CX-50.

While your Mazda Dealer should update this software when your car is in for scheduled Service it is not in most occasions OTA (Over The Air) not done either. Can be a catch 22 as owner must complain of an issue before most car Dealers touch anything computerized.

My advice if you are basic PC savvy, you should update your TCU and not wait for your Dealer to update.
Seriously it is Not difficult to do.

Included in this thread is a .Pdf called "TCU Update Procedure", this is Genuine Mazda Dealer instruction as is the TCU update file 10004.
Also a .Pdf on the Mazda Dealer notification or TSB.

If you want to update your CX-50s TCU Software yourself then you must download a small file (only about 10Mb) from a link I will provide you also with full easy instructions, however you must FORUM 'message' me by clicking on my Avatar and then "Message" or "Start conversation", and then ask for link to download and I will privately send you a download link of genuine TCU Driver for CX-50.

Yes as a Mazda man I strongly suggest you update your TCU as this interacts with MyMazda App and car communication with Mazda and your Telco provider for Data connection.

You can not do any harm as Mazda systems now will now only permit Genuine Mazda Updates.
I provide Mazda Owners with official help as a retired Mazda worker and also multiple Mazda Owner I only do what is right by the brand and you.

IF you want your Dealer to do the TCU Update you must complain of a particular issue like " "MyMazda App on my phone does not work as I can not unlock cars doors via my phone"

Mazda does not release any notes on this small communication Driver only software. From my experience when there is an update it is always to address a communication failure or bug between Car, App and Mazdas data servers.

Just curious for those that did the TCU update, how long does it take? Wondering if a trickle charger on the battery is really needed as the instructions say.

Wow, after updating the TCU software, I noticed my remote commands are working much faster. Nothing longer than 3 seconds to reach the car. I'm sure being in a good reception area helps. Thanks @ASH8

Had a bit of trouble identifying a flash drive for which the vehicle would recognize the TCU update. The smaller capacity drive I used for the one CX-50 Connect firmware update and all the ones for my 2019 CX-5 kept resulting in the update not being recognized as present. What finally worked, oddly, was using a 3rd party utility to format a >16g flash drive as FAT32.

I can second AWSD's experience that the vehicle now responds more rapidly to remote commands via the MyMazda app. Didn't have any actual issues prior to the update, however.

I updated with no issues. Used a 4 GB flash drive formatted to FAT32. Took maybe 10 minutes. Also happy to report a speedier response time to commands sent from the app.

Seems like we should all be following the instructions of the person kind enough to help here. Just wanted to avoid spamming the thread with requests from people who didn't follow the instructions. This does not bode well for successfully completing the upgrade if you don't have good attention to detail.
