A few things to consider 1 battery voltage is very important ask them to test your battery voltage if the battery is low it can fail to open the hatch normally this is no response though 2 if your car is parked on a slope it can to cause this issue 3 ask your dealer to recalibrate the dsc related sensors if these sensors are not correct they can trick the car in to thinking it's on a slow 3 striker alignment have your local dealer realign/tighten the stiker I have come across this 4 last but ask your local dealer to look at 09-024/24 - LIFTGATE OR TRUNK LID WILL NOT UNLOCK WHEN IGNITION IS OFF OR POWER LIFTGATE WILL NOT CLOSE I am a master tech for Mazda and I have come across this my self multiple times and can never duplicate I do these few checks with your local dealership I hope this helps every one

I have two fobs - both brand new. When the car gets into this will-not-open state, neither of the new keyfobs will open the liftgate. The dashboard button will not open the liftgate. And the button on the liftgate will not open the liftgate. It is in 100% will-not-open state. It's triggered by something that I can't figure out. It is reset by turning off and restarting the engine. Or, if the car is already parked, I have to start it up and then the liftgate will open. Of course, when things work properly, either one of the keyfobs, the dash button and the button on the liftgate all work just fine.
Hi, do you have a lock button on the liftgate by the go down button? I saw a post where someone iD this as the child lock button. I dint see this in the manual which is no help. In my experience if there is a child lock on anything, you better pay attention or it will screw you over every way possible.

That is NOT a child lock. That is the button to close the liftgate AND lock the car. It will only work if the key fob is outside and in proximity to the liftgate, otherwise it beeps and does nothing.

Here (FYI) is the actual child lock info from the manual:

Took the CX-50 into the shop. They were unable to explain the problem or reproduce it. I was able to show them this thread so they knew I was not the only one with the problem. The service advisor said there was a loose fuse that "might" have caused the problem. They pushed the fuse into the socket. Hmmm ... sure seems like a lot of loose fuses out there in Mazda land. Not feeling too confident that the locked liftgate problem is fixed ... only time will tell.
I would love to find the fuse for the seatbelt bell. We usually belt up at the main road because there are other instances we have to sometimes stop for
before getting there. We have fakers for it now but even so… its too loud and obnoxious which causes anxiety and leads to mistakes by drivers as they try to silence it.
