My phones (tried both iPhone and Samsung) heat up like crazy in maybe 10-15 minutes. Then the charging stops. The charging pad flashes red and is very hot to the touch.

I tried the “prioritize AM reception” configuration which slows the charging rate but didn’t seem to fix the issue.

That is normal operation for the wireless charger. For most, it is generally useless. You will get some trips that it works well, some where it doesn't. I believe Mazda is aware of it. TO be fair, many car wireless chargers have the same exact complaint, so this is not exclusive to Mazda. Just sucks that it is one of the main features they advertise for one of the top trims and it is pretty much non-functional.

I just seen your post and I thank you. I recently bought a 2024 CX 50 and the wireless charging pad does not work. It might flash red it might flash green as if it’s charging but no longer than maybe 20 seconds. Even if I’m holding my phone so it doesn’t move, it does not charge. The dealership did a test and they cannot find anything wrong as well as no way to fix it even though they know it’s not working properly or at all. Do you have an update or have you heard of a way to fix the issue or will Mazda fix it? Thank you so much in advance .

Thanks yes that's very true, that the heat causes it to go red, last not coming home i faced the center ac vent at the charging pad and the phone and pad did not turn off onces. 😀 great solution. But not fixed, mazda needs to add a fan or cooling device to disapate the heat. Thanks for your help.

I can't get this POS wireless charger to work on any of my phones with a case on. I've tried iPhone 15 Pro Max, S23 Ultra, Z Fold 5, S20FE, OnePlus Open, none work with a case on. Granted, all my cases have magsafe adapters, which may be the issue. I turned the wireless charger off and just use the space for storage. Instead, I use 2 Pitaka magsafe wireless car phone chargers which work great mounted to the A-Tach dash mounts.

Just buy this. Works with cases on and not one issue. Also turns on and off with the car.

My dealership replaced my charging pad and shared with me it probably won’t work either- they are actually correct. Don’t bother getting it replaced, doesn’t do a thing. They shared with me Mazda needs to release an update to fix the issue. My brand new charging pad works less than the original broken one. 😢. I expected better from Mazda, this complaint has been around for years.
