There have been people saying the wait times in Canada are 6-9 months. As others have said, here in California the CX-50 is readily available at MSRP.Is it a Canadian Thing??
I think it's the difference in trim levels for the states and Canada. Up here there are only 3 trims as you know. GS-L, GT non turbo, GT Turbo.Man, you Canadians are really getting screwed. CX50s are abundant at my local dealers.
Just checked central California after reading your post. CarGurus has 158 listings for CX-50’s within 150 miles. That would cover the Central Valley from end to end from my location. I see one dealer who had $500 off MSRP is now doing over $1000 off MSRP on their TPP models. If I were in California, I think I would definitely be shooting for under MSRP on one at this point. In my region (New England) it’s very dealer dependent. When I was hunting for my car I would religiously check the Mazda inventory tool at 100 mile radius and the same 3-4 dealers would show a car in stock or in transit. Now two months later there are 10-15 dealers showing up in the same search. I drove almost 100 miles to get mine. There are 21 dealers inside this radius (some have cars I wasn’t searching for). Point being, some dealers have cars and some don’t and for those that do, some have multiple trim levels while others have only one and many have none. Also worth mentioning, the dealer who told me that they are the largest volume in the territory has very low allocation. So don’t assume if they are big that they are your best shot to get a car.
