I might be the first to have to replace the front windshield of my CX-50 having owned the car for two days..... Got a nasty rock strike from a semi-truck while driving to work today.

Safelite cant get the glass based on the VIN I gave them. Waiting to hear back from my Mazda dealer......

I expect it will be expensive and I won't be surprised if there is a considerable wait for a new glass.

I'll report back with my experience getting it replaced.

Ugh! So sorry to see this happened to you. I hope it doesn't take too long to get a replacement--maybe since it is a US produced model, that may lessen the time even if is a brand new vehicle. And even with the usual dealer markup, having them take care of this will probably reduce likelihood of mistakes and there's also the complications of the attached sensors and proper calibration of those once on the new windshield.

What a bummer, @CX-Fitty-UT
A couple of those radiating cracks look pretty long, but have you checked on a glass repair? I had a similar hit on our Odyssey a couple years back. I thought it was too close to the edge of the glass to be repaired but the dealer said it could be done and its held up fine, so far.

Unfortunately, you can’t repair a windshield if the crack is longer than six inches.

Update: The dealer got back to me and said the windshield for the CX-50 is on a restricted order list and will possibly be a 4-month wait. The only glass manufactured for the CX-50 right now is OEM from the dealer, and cost 1200$.

Yeah just found this out recently. Figures crossed it doesn't grow too much until new glass arrives 4 months from now.....I reached out to several glass shops and none of them could get the glass for this new model. Oem through the dealer only at the moment.

I hope that includes the cost of recalibrating the safety systems as well. Man, windshields are expensive.

Thats for the glass only not the install. My dealer doesnt install the glass unfortunately. Hopefully the shop they use knows what there doing because the sensors will not work if the glass is not installed properly.
