A few updates and questions... I have the 2023 Turbo CX50
1. When I bought the car the dealer installed a 7 pin harness like I asked. But they could not get the Mazda brand. So without me knowing they put in an aftermarket wire harness. The lights work great but tow mode wont show up like it should on the turbo model.
1. Anyone else with the turbo get tow mode to work with aftermarket wire kit?
2. If you have had tow mode show up, do you have a mazda harness?

Since it didnt work the dealer said they would swap it with the mazda harness. However, on March 3rd Mazda recalled all trailer light harness because they are too close to an exhaust or something... Now, I cant get a mazda harness and can't use tow mode (Im assuming my current wire harness is preventing tow mode from starting). I need to tow an 1100 lb trailer a couple thousand miles in a few months.

3. Anyone tow with the turbo and no tow mode?

Looks like it will be awhile before anyone can get the Mazda direct wire harnesses. Thanks for the thoughts.

Have you hooked it up to a trailer?
May sound like a dumb question sorry but the circuit I believe has to be made by hooking up the harness for ‘tow mode’ feature.
Other than that, unless it was a poor install I have nothing else at the moment.

Thanks! Not a dumb question. I should have said. Yes. I have connected to three different trailers and have towed 20-30 min to make sure it didn't just need time to activate tow mode. The dealer has also looked at it. I saw a few other threads just posted about the recall. I probably should have titled this thread "Turbo Tow Mode with Aftermarket Light Kit" as that is more of the issue.

You can go ahead and edit the title of your thread, if you want, Just go to your first post, click the three dots icon on the right & choose 'edit'. Then the title is displayed at the top of the post and you can change it there.

Ok so the recall is only for the OEM wiring kit, it was a wire routing issue causing disconnect and possible wire damage from heat of the muffler, nothing to do with the vehicle. A modified OEM harness is now available……but yours was aftermarket brand which you didn’t identify, so it’s either not compatible somehow or wasn’t installed correctly. For a more experienced install if not doing it yourself, hitch companies or RV companies have plenty of experience.
Online Etrailer has videos on their products installs which work on the 50.
