Turbo Premium Plus since 4/13, 140 miles driven as of 4/20

I’m in California and have driven the car for 140 miles in sun, wind, rain so far and it’s definitely growing on me. The CX-50 looks great in Zircon Sand/Terracotta and parked next to other crossovers, it’s has a more sporty-wagon look because the roofline is lower and the stance is longer and wider.

The key fob is large and buttons hard to find but at least it doesn’t weigh too much. The electronics are ok, but will take some getting used to.

The interior has been nice so far for both front and back seat passengers, cargo room is nice.

YouTube review videos have been quite accurate. The car checks a lot of boxes but could use refinement in some areas but overall the utility of it has been great and it does feel like a nice step above average for a vehicle.

The ride could be smoother but it does handle pretty nicely.

Please feel free to leave me questions or requests for info. I’m happy to share.

Congratulations @alexjchan and welcome to the forum! Were you considering any other SUVs?

What kinds of things are you getting used to with the electronics? Also, can you share any photos of your CX-50?

Welcome to the forum @Tommieremix! Are you just looking for a turbo? Or is there a specific spec you're looking for?

Thank youuuu, and yes I'm specifically looking for the turbo I would be upgrading from a non-turbo cx-30 premium and for me not getting a turbo wouldn't make much sense.

It’s been a good experience so far. I put on another 100 miles today and got some time on the highway and on some mountain roads. It’s averaging 18.1 mpg and I’ve been driving gently and keeping it mostly under 3,000 RPM until I get a few more miles on it. The ride is ok but sometimes can feel bumpy and I feel jostled around.
There are a lot of things to like about the car and the annoying things aren’t deal breakers. Here are the more notable annoyances:
  • One in ten times the wireless Apple CarPlay refuses to connect
  • The heads up display defaults to “on” every time the car starts
  • The transmission tube where the shifter lives needs to be padded for the comfort of the driver’s right knee
  • The windshield doesn’t have tinting across the top like most cars
  • The seats are a bit hard and not as supportive as I’d like
  • the indicator light for the A/C is blocked by a control knob
There are a lot of great things like the exterior LEDs, the flared arches and the dimensions of it really look good. A friend said it looked aggressive in his rear view mirror due to the big grille and stance of the CX-50. The ventilated seats are great and not very noisy. The passenger room is great! The cargo area feels very usable. The rear seats fold almost flat and my sleeping pad fits in there very nicely.
Feel free to leave me questions or requests.

Hi, would it be possible for you to measure the depth of the trunk with the seat up. We just ordered the turbo model but I got too excited and forgot to make sure it would fit a baby stroller. Thank you and congrats on the new vehicle.

Thanks

Suffice it to say ditto most if not all of your observations so far. It is a bit of a gas guzzler on start stop traffic, it is bumpy not a refined ride, the cruise control, land control and auto braking is maddening (I turned most of those features off) and the infotainment system is a hot mess that I haven't gotten used to after two months of ownership; this is really a very poor execution unfortunately and leads to more distracted driving than any other feature of the car. I like the folding mirrors and acceleration, though shifting seems quite rough in the lower gears, anyone else notice that?

Unfortunately I can't say myself or the majority of us have in this forum. I hope things get better for you and your ride 😥&& Thank you for joining the forum!
