Somewhere online I read that a transmission reset or relearn is possible to reset the transmission shifting parameters to default. Mine seems to shift weird and the dealer wants to charge me $200 to perform this. Has anyone done this on their own? Would it be through the ODB2 connection?

Tell your dealer there is an issue with the transmission shifting. If they try to charge you, advise them of the BBB number you have on speed dial. Your vehicle does not have a deductible on the warranty.
Jackasses are trying to gouge you…..grrrr.

Unfortunately I did tell them the shifting is not smooth and jerky. They service manager said it's not a warranty issue so it T&M for me. I've driven it in manual mode forever and I suppose I'll keep doing so until I find a way to do it myself.

I was directed to post in this thread. I'm fairly active in some of the fb groups and other forums. I made a video on how to do this.
Important things to note there are some common things that will cause it to not work, keep your foot on the brake the whole time, car needs to be on for around a minute and transmission needs to be up to temp, usually 15 minutes of driving will do that.

I get the feeling you may be a Mazda tech?

No wonder the service manager wanted $200, it’s a 3 minute reset.
With the Mazda OBD reader probably less.
A decent dealership wouldn’t gouge a customer for this simple procedure.
But those are few and far in between.

Our members thank you.👍

Not a Mazda tech. I've been in the auto industry for around 20 years in various capacities. I do drivetrain R&D, transmission tuning and repair at a high volume facility. I love Mazdas and the Skyactiv Drive family of transmissions is one of my favorites on the market. When I have time I do like to help out.

I wanted to thank you for your transmission relearn process. It worked like a charm and I ripped my dealer a new a$$hole.
