Tire pressure in Mazda app

I have a 2023 PFP with less than 1k miles. When do you read the tire pressure? Mine app status seems to update only after a drive. Since the tires are warm then I always get a higher pressure then recommended. Manual refresh in the app does not do anything. However, I can do remote functions and even get a reminder if I leave the door unlocked. Is this how the app is supposed to work or is there something wrong with mine? BTW, I have latest app version and car software.

As long as you checked that they weren't overinflated during shipping, you should be go. Normal for some expansion/compression during use/non-use and temps.
also, if you're very concerned, get a good digital tire gauge. Don't rely solely on the app.

The TPMS tire pressures only update periodically and ONLY when the wheels are turning (to trigger the sensors). So, the app only gets what the car last read and cannot be refreshed until the next drive. You can bring the info screen up on your car and check it after a mile or so of your next drive. BUT:

Thanks. I will check what the app displays shortly after driving.

This is incorrect; these TPMS sensors are battery powered and active 24/7. The TMPS does not depend on the wheels to be turning in order to be able to monitor tire pressures. The app appears to not require tire movement either: I just did a remote start and all the readings where updated 3 hours after the last refresh was done.

You can also view the pressures on the center screen as you drive. They're located under "Information" (sorry, I don't remember what the sub-menu is, but I think there's just 2 choices).

Maintenance details.
I don’t use the app for anything but remote starts.
I use the in vehicle tire pressure info for a good estimate of the actual psi.
For a more accurate reading I use a digital gauge, and really not sure how accurate it is as all three devices will be different readings with the vehicle at rest. So…..🤔

Nope. You are incorrect. I know for sure because I had a flat (nail - slow leak) and got it patched. When I drove off the dash alerted me to low air pressure - note this was after it was repaired - and looking at the info screen, it did not update to the full pressure until about a mile down the road.

Also, the monitor screen itself supports this:

Yup, I was wrong. I initially thought that was an actual screenshot of your center display after you had the tire patched. The owners manual does say something about waiting 19 minutes then driving a certain distance to get the TPMS synched again. But after checking my display I see that same message, and I've had no tires removed. I'm baffled as to why Mazda doesn't use their Connected Services to provide real time TPMS data (to the app) but it is what it is.

Well, I believe the TPMS only operates as described (periodically/when moving) to save battery life... they have to last ten years after all. The connected services does not update in real time anyway (it says that on the app). Presumably they don't want the car transmitting all the time to both save data costs and car battery life. Just a guess.

When I do my wheel and tire changeovers spring and fall, it takes less than 1 kilometer and 3 or 4 minutes
and they are synchronized. My Volvo took 20-30 kms and half an hour to get synced.
I think part of my problem is that I've owned nothing but domestic vehicles for the majority of the time that I've been driving (first licensed at age 14). The last few "newer" cars that I've had, a 2011 Cadillac CTS Performance Coupe and a 2011 Chevy HHR both had real time TPMS data. The CTS data could be viewed using the On-Star app or DIC, the HHR viewed using the DIC display, both while stationary (only my Trophy SE requires driving a few feet before TPMS data is displayed). With that in mind, I still can't figure out why Mazda doesn't provide that same functionality.

For interest, do you note and put the wheels back in the same locations? Or does it automagically detect which wheel is on which corner?

I rotate every tire changeover regardless of distance on the tires.
Fronts to back, rears crossover to the front.
Never an issue for readings due to location of wheels.
