So I'm considering the same and came across your post! I only found a cx-9 with it and a cx-5 with it on the mazdas247 forum so I'm going to assume it'll work for the cx50 too!

2020 CX-5 with Thule Motion XT XL

Ok, so before I purchased this, I looked and couldn't find any good side view shots. Side View with a flare! Hatch is fully open! Was worried it might interfere with visibility, nope, can't see it from normal driving position! HeadOn! Apply directly... Shark! /r/RearView

Thanks for the links! Yeah surely if it fits a cx5 it will fit the 50 ok?

Just found a guy on Reddit that fit the motion XXL on there too! That's been the most helpful as I look at secondhand boxes that are available around me. Using the XXL dimensions as my maximum. I think there's a chance I'll go with the motion alpine or XL though

Did you end up getting one yet? Our 50 doesnt arrive for awhile yet but was hoping to order something in.

I got the box, but just ordered my OEM crossbars from BAM this week. I think it'll fit well, because I was able to put the box inside my car. I had to push the passenger seat all the way up with my seats flat, but it fit with about half a foot left in the trunk. This is the guy that put the XXL, see the comments for the picture:
