Tried 4 different USB drives, from 1gig to 16gig, all formatted Fat32, with ONLY the kwi file on them, and my system gives me the no file recognized error every time I try to update the TCU.

Not sure where to go to now.

Mazda North America has released a TCU Software Update to Version 10004 for Mazda CX-50 to for MyMazda App communication issues.

YOU MUST MESSAGE ME FOR LINK FOR FILE TO UPDATE TCU

TCU means..
TELECOMMUNICATION CONTROL UNIT

The TCU is a small hardware unit under dash which DATA connects your MyMazda App (your phone) to the car for remote features and with Mazda Servers.

A new release TCU Driver Update Version 10003 10004 is specific for and only for Mazda CX-50.

While your Mazda Dealer should update this software when your car is in for scheduled Service it is not in most occasions OTA (Over The Air) not done either. Can be a catch 22 as owner must complain of an issue before most car Dealers touch anything computerized.

My advice if you are basic PC savvy, you should update your TCU and not wait for your Dealer to update.
Seriously it is Not difficult to do.

Included in this thread is a .Pdf called "TCU Update Procedure", this is Genuine Mazda Dealer instruction as is the TCU update file 10004.
Also a .Pdf on the Mazda Dealer notification or TSB.

If you want to update your CX-50s TCU Software yourself then you must download a small file (only about 10Mb) from a link I will provide you also with full easy instructions, however you must FORUM 'message' me by clicking on my Avatar and then "Message" or "Start conversation", and then ask for link to download and I will privately send you a download link of genuine TCU Driver for CX-50.

Yes as a Mazda man I strongly suggest you update your TCU as this interacts with MyMazda App and car communication with Mazda and your Telco provider for Data connection.

You can not do any harm as Mazda systems now will now only permit Genuine Mazda Updates.
I provide Mazda Owners with official help as a retired Mazda worker and also multiple Mazda Owner I only do what is right by the brand and you.

IF you want your Dealer to do the TCU Update you must complain of a particular issue like " "MyMazda App on my phone does not work as I can not unlock cars doors via my phone"

Added Below is a new .Pdf of 'Mazda OTA Update Instructions', however you must have at the minimum Mazda Connect version 11022 and TCU Driver 10004 already installed and working in CX-50, you then use this .Pdf Mazda OTA Update Instructions.

All TCU Devices are a hardware Module inside car, these Modules once Activate (MyMazda App, etc) and in use CAN NOT be removed and installed in any another Mazda as they are VIN Locked to the original (your) car.

Just Like OEM Navigation SD-Card (if equipped) is VIN Locked.
Thanks for all the valuable information on this forum. I purchased my CX-50 in January 2023 and the car has a manufacture date of 11/22. I checked the CMU information and the ECU software is shown as NA05_11022 so I believe that is the latest version according to what I read here. When I check the TCU Linked Information, I see the TCU Software Version is 00010001. Is that the same as the TCU Driver that is being discussed and should be 10004?

If my TCU software needs to be updated to 10004, can the files be downloaded and moved to a thumb drive using a Macintosh computer, or does it need to be a PC? Thanks in advance.

Hi, ASH8!
In november'23 i bought Mazda CX-50 2023 from US.
Last week i see the message "In-vehicle Network Malfunction. Have the Vehicle Inspected".
I have to update TCU?
No. A firmware update won't fix this. It's likely this will go away on its own, but if it doesn't, you'll have to take it back to your dealer.

That sounds more like a bus/network issue. I say network, but the car is similar to the networks I deploy in regards to communication.

This is only the second time I have seen anyone ask about this, so it seems not to be a widespread issue. Could be as simple as a frayed wire that wasn't completely attached to one of the many components that speak to each other.

Dealer will square you up, this is under bumper to bumper, unless you are past the mileage.
