So have any Nit- Picks about the CX-50?

I have a few. I have had the car a little over a month with 1000 miles.
1: A bit too much "electronics" for my taste. I like things simple.🙄
2: The climate controls could be more tactful. I still have to take my eyes off the road to adjust it.
The a/c "on" light is not visible from the drivers seat.
3: Does the radio always have to be to turn on when you start the car?
4: It would be nice if you could get. more info on the heads up display.
5: I am not a fan of the 20" wheels
6: This is my first bout with Android Auto.
Seems like it's noready for prime time.
Of course that's not the cars fault.

All and all it's great ride. I like it for the most part...

Not deal breakers, love the car, but there are some nuances I could do without.

Mud guards should be standard equipment.
A/C on/off light is nearly impossible to see.
Navigating the infotainment system can make you daft.
More wheel/tire options, regardless of the ride, I'd prefer a taller sidewall.

my biggest complaint is the lack of laminated(acoustic) glass on the driver and passenger side windows. The CX-5 has it and its super quiet. The CX-50 is more expensive and I feel Mazda cheaped out with this and a few other things (like driver thigh padding, 40-20-40 seats, rear seat recline, leather trimmed upper portion on the rear doors)

I absolutely agree with the acoustic glass. My CX9 had it and the interior was so quiet. Not that the CX50 is super loud or anything but I think they could have at least kept it a lot quieter with the acoustic glass. To be honest, that's my main gripe with the CX50 other than the useless wireless charger. I had high hopes for the charger too because I feel they utilized the perfect spot for it
I have a quite a few nitpicks, but two really stand out. Build quality is way subpar for a Mazda. The second one is the placement of the cup holders. Terrible placement.

Wireless charger is #1 nit pick for me.
The obnoxious instant on seatbelt chime, at least wait a few seconds.
What is up with the partially heated steering wheel? Only the sides are heated, not the top and bottom.
The inner headlight ring is not lit, just silver. Oh, and it isn't even a headlight, just completely fake. Stupid
Pano sunroof opening is pathetic.
The black plastic on the bottom of the door collects too much dust.

why is the AC light such a big deal for people? it should be on at all times, hot or cold, there is no reason to turn it off.

my only complaint is the transmission tuning is complete garbage. tries to stay in a higher gear at the wrong times. its the only automatic car that I'm consistently able to lug the engine under normal driving.
I have nearly 2,000 miles on the car and I share the same gripes with the vehicle as other people have posted but here's some of mine:
  • Steering wheel resistance: It takes way too much effort to turn the steering wheel compared to my 2016 CX-5 and it makes driving long distances very fatiguing. Anywhere from 45 mins - 1 hour requires a lot of effort even with cruise control.
  • A/C light and overall LED lights of the HVAC system: I feels like Mazda should've placed the LED lights at the bottom of each button instead of the top as it makes more sense from a visual perspective. Instead, the A/C light is placed all the way to the top right of the button and it's basically hidden underneath the circular button that controls the temperature for the passenger side.
  • Cup Holders: It's honestly a terrible location to place the cupholder and not only that, if you wanted to use a cable charger, it would basically interfere with the cup holder unless you bought L-shaped charging cables.
  • Tiny glove compartment/center console compartment: It would've been nice if they made this bigger as there's really not much room to put anything. I also wish that Mazda put in a key lock like Toyota on the passenger compartment as that would be a nice touch.
  • Driver seatbelt pocket: I don't know why Mazda didn't include one for the driver seat but only included it for the passenger seat.
  • Seatbelt Chime: I can be parked and it still goes off. I mean going off is not the issue but it's the sound that it makes as it is not a subtle chime but a very intrusive one.
  • Seat bolstering: The center portion where the stitching runs along the seat protrudes upwards too much and makes long drives somewhat uncomfortable as my butt seems to go numb.
  • Tires: I wish they offered the option to swap the 20 inch wheels for 17 inch ones as it is much cheaper in the long run to replace. I definitely like how the 20 inch wheels look but would prefer more sidewall.
  • My Mazda App: I wish there was a way to open the trunk from the phone. Seems like a simple option to add and there's already a page to view if the door/trunks are unlocked so not sure why they couldn't just put in that feature. My other gripe is with the remote start turning the vehicle off once the door is opened, it honestly doesn't make much sense to me as I would need to start the car twice.

This is unrelated to the vehicle as it seems to be a limitation of Android Auto but there isn't a way to maximize Google Maps on the head unit. It works fine with Apple Car play for whatever reason but not for Android Auto. I've looked around for some hacks or ways to bypass this using developer mode but it doesn't do anything at all to fix this issue.

Regarding the transmission.
Believe or not this is my first car with an automatic (65 yrs. old). Always had manual trans.
That said when I want to get around the gear the trans has selected I use the paddle shifters while in "D". The trans. allows you to do that...
Nit picks for me and literally stupid little things/nice to have's--I actually am very happy with this vehicle for my own needs:
  • Lack of footwell lighting
  • Easily scratched piano-black interior trim
  • USB-A ports instead of USB-C
  • No insert tray in the storage console between the front seats
  • Would prefer more cargo area lighting
  • Seatback pockets on both front seats
  • Adjustable lumbar support on both front seats
  • Better factory tires
  • No option or at least pre-wiring for offroad light bar (front or roof mounted)
  • No fog lights
  • Stupid I know, but I keep wondering if the current black center pano roof support is best (blends in somewhat) or if it would be better in the roof liner color for consistency

Yes, just a few small issues.

A/C indicator is in a silly location with no notification in climate control panel.
Shifter boot is too close to the commander control knob.
Navigation instructions are on the bottom of the screen instead of the top (like the older Mazda Connect screens).
The Main Instrument cluster TFT display could have more information on one screen.
And lastly, more bass for the stereo.
First it was the seat belt chime but just fasten before start and no chime.
Mine was delivered with both front and back drivers side plastic fenders that had small discoloration/scratch like marks. And some type of paint flaw on the rear door next to the handle hard to see but the dime size issue started as a black scuff. First oil change all will be addressed.
Closing the doors sounds a bit cheap but keeping your hand on the panel makes it sound better.
Sometimes it feels as if my transmission is slipping and getting a cvt like feeling..but im coming from a s3 that had a dct which was awesome so..
Sometimes there's a light vibration when coming to a stop ive noticed..mostly in the rear it seems. Ive also have had this clicking sound that does come from the rear. Sometimes more noticeable sometimes not there very strange. Almost like something rubbing/ dragging on a drive shaft..

So..build quality and delivery seems to be B-

Driving is B+/ A- : suprising fun to drive

Infotainment i like and easy to learn A- music sounds good but the source really depends on that..xm sucks for example but my thumb drive sounds really good

Im having a hard time with the plastic fenders just getting use to that. The cx 70 might be the best option in the future for me..

Sorry to hear about the build quality issues. That's really unacceptable. Sounds like it should not have left the plant that way.
If I were you, if the dealer doesn't resolve the noise issue take it to a good independent shop. My experience is often they can figure out things the dealer can't or would rather kick the can down the road about...
I should add my dealer here in San Diego was just opening up and literally working out of trailers. So my delivery was a shell car wash and here you go. But once this massive dealer is done it should be pretty nice with a place they can detail cars.
My last car a audi s3 the delivery was amazing. Polished perfection and not one issue on delivery. The sales guys and i did a total walk around on their request to note anything.
Hopefully Mazda in their new goals can step it up in the delivery and details. They already have good reliability ratings which is the hard part so ..

Hello Mazda.....bought mine there in April. Can't wait for their state-of-the-art facility to be built.
I feel like it’s day to day with this car. Some days I love and others I can’t wait to unload it.
For nitpicks:
  • Ride quality is not good for what the car is, a slower compact CUV. I shouldn’t feel like my teeth are going to be shaken out on concrete freeway. Also, this is marketed as off-road capable. This suspension is far too stiff for that application. To make it worse, I do not think the 20” wheels are the culprit.
  • Wireless charger cost should be refunded to all those who have it. It flat out doesn’t work.
  • Rattles. Far too many rattles for a car that costs this much. I currently have one in the sunroof and one in the dash. Also, the doors rattle when they get shut (the back is worse than front).
  • The lack of acoustic glass is a big omission at this price point.
  • It lacks some accessories that other manufacturers include standard, namely cargo cover and cargo mat. Not a huge deal but annoying.
On the bright side, the car is gorgeous and I love the look of the interior. The infotainment is one of the best I have ever used. The interior space is pretty good for its size. And having a pano roof is awesome!

Unfortunately, as it sits right now, I would not recommend a CX-50 to anyone. It has too many issues and shortcomings for its price point.

Intresting... I'm surprised to hear about the rattles. When did you take delivery? How many miles do you have on it? Do you do alot highway miles?

Curious, what month was your’s built?

Purchased August 4th, currently around 3800 miles. Almost all highway/freeway driving, though that is where the car bounces the most. I have a rattle in the dash, the sunroof, driver’s door panel, and the center console lid.

It was built in June.

That really sucks. What does the dealer say about all this?
