Mazda in USA are conducting a Recall on all CX-50's fitted by Dealer or at Port with approved local Genuine Mazda Trailer Hitch and Wiring.
In most cases this is a Preventative Inspection and Replacement of Harness Wiring with a new modified one.

Obviously if you have not got a Trailer Hitch on your CX-50 then this Recall does not apply.
Mazda Motor Corporation has decided a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in certain 2023MY Mazda CX-50 vehicles produced from January 18, 2022 through October 28, 2022, affecting 2,592 vehicles in Canada that may have had a Mazda Genuine Accessory Trailer Hitch Harness installed. MNAO says about 560 USA sold vehicles or in Dealer stock with a Genuine Mazda Accessory Hitch.
Description of Issue: On the affected vehicles, if an accessory trailer hitch harness has been installed, the trailer wiring harness may detach, causing insufficient clearance to underbody components.
Both the 4-pin and 7-pin harnesses are affected.
Safety Risk:
A detached trailer wiring harness may become damaged due to contact with the exhaust components or road debris while driving. If the harness becomes damaged, lighting and/or braking of a connected trailer may become inoperative, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Measures:
In Canada Over-the-counter sales of accessories are not tracked, so retailers are instructed inspect all subject vehicles for the presence of a trailer hitch harness. If there is no trailer hitch harness installed, no further action is necessary.
Minimize Safety Risk Until Repair is Completed: Owners can visually check trailer lighting before towing. In case of trailer wire harness malfunction, customers should avoid towing.
If a trailer hitch harness is installed, retailers will install an improved harness with new installation and new cable routing instructions.
Owner Notification: Mazda will notify owners of affected vehicles by priority mail no later than April 28, 2023.
