Rear blind spot sensors to sensative

376 Views 11 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Trickster
Once in a while my sensors go off like it sees something with no cars on either side. Are they more sensitive then other manufacturers? Thought the tech said they can be turned/aligned better but with a thread they have fallen in through the holes into the bumper I didn't want him to mess with them. Thoughts or experiences?

I'm confused... the sensors in the bumper are ultrasonic sensors used for rear proximity alerts (only activated when in reverse). The blind spot sensors are radar type sensors and located in your side mirrors - so no issues with falling into the bumpers.

Mine are not overly sensitive, but they do sometimes trigger on narrow roads, especially with Armco (metal) railings along the sides. If this is not your situation, take it to the dealer.
2 sensors are rear proximity. The other 2 on the furthest rear sides are part of the blind spot system I believe
The 2 furthest look for the rear sides and when they go off so do the blind spot indicators in the side mirrors so I assume I'm correct
No. There are 4 rear proximity sensors in the bumper. Blind spot sensors are in the mirrors.
When it goes off the dash shows the right rear sensor
Along with the passenger side mirror blinking
OK, whatever. If the issue is not just because "they do sometimes trigger on narrow roads, especially with Armco (metal) railings along the sides" then go to your dealer. That's what the warranty is for.

As long as I can depend on them doing what there supposed to do I'm good like highway driving switching lanes etc.

The Blind Spot sensors are positioned inside the rear bumper. Meaning, you won't see any of them. The front and rear parking sensors that are exposed are the ultrasonic sensors that aid you in parking.

I've had 5 Mazda's all with Blind Spot Monitoring, and they've all always worked as intended. They detect obstructions in your blind spots, which can sometimes be triggered by guardrails if you are close enough.

This is correct. The sensors aren't in the mirrors. If they were they wouldn't detect cross traffic while backing out of parking spaces because the mirrors are blocked by cars to each side. Blind spot monitoring is always inside the bumper or in the rear taillight assembly. Cross traffic alert/blind spot monitoring is not tied to the little dots in your bumpers. Those are proximity sensors and aren't on all models, cross traffic/blind spot safety systems are on all CX-50 models.
