Radio Unmuted at Startup

863 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Kenny Kirk
On my old Mazda 6 I could mute the radio before turning the car off and when I started it up the next time it would stay muted. I noticed on the CX-50 that it automatically unmutes at each startup. Is this the new normal? I don't see a way to change it. Not a huge deal but just wondering.

There is a menu setting for that. You'll have to search it out, but I've seen it.
I made a habit of simply turning the volume down low when I park.
From the CX-30 forums: Music / Radio on by default? How do we stop this?
Direct quote from a user: "Before turning the engine off, press and hold the <source button> on the steering wheel. Or go with the <MZD controller> to the source menu and scroll all the way down and select sound off."

OK thanks I'll try that!

Thank you! I have confirmed, this procedure works on the CX-50 as well. @VentiMike this was bugging me as well, glad we have a way now to fix it.
