My passengers are starting to tear up the plastic interior panels like kick plates, center tunnel in the back seat, etc. Is there such a thing as protective film for these parts? My guess is that nothing would really stick well to that plastic surface.

On my last car, I put a protective film on my plastic kick sill plate. Beforehand, I cleaned off the plastic with denatured alcohol. The protective film didn’t want to stick all that well and only lasted for a short time.

You can try flaming the plastic before sticking anything to it. Gently play the very tip a torch (not a smoky candle flame) over the plastic - enough to oxidise it a little, obviously NOT enough to melt or disfigure it. This is actually what they do in factories to some types of plastic bottles before attaching labels to them.

I did this on my CX-5 before sticking velcro to some spots on the plastic panels. Still attached today (3+ years).
