I posted this on Reddit.

Been playing around with mine and if I turn on slow charging in the car settings then go to my phone and turn fast wireless charging off, the wireless charging pad (and my phone, Galaxy S10), doesn't overheat. The charging times are slower but it seems to work for me. A people on Reddit have tried this also.

The slow charging car setting is called "Prioritize AM reception" (awkward, I know, haha)

Yes, this does work. But your charge time is stupid slow and if you are running android auto, waze/Google maps and any music streaming, your battery will die before it ever charges.
And turning on fast charging causes phones to overheat. This isn't a "fix". And Mazda and Qi need to address this.
Good start though

It seems to work for me. Galaxy S10, Android auto uses very little battery. Like a 30 min drive uses about 6%. I can charge like 10-12% in 30 min. So it's keeping up. Someone on Reddit also tried and I believe was getting like 6-7% on top of standard usage on their phone.

Sure..
AA by itself with nothing running uses less than 10% but if you are actually navigating somewhere AND listening to music or a podcast, and any other backgrounds apps running just on the phone that don't mirror to the screen, it kills most batteries. Throw on an inductive charger (wireless Qi charge pad) then you are adding heat. It's not a perfect system. What these companies need to introduce is ventilation or fans to the charging area.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to solve the issue for iPhone users. I have Prioritize AM Reception on and if anything, the issue is worse, but certainly not any better. There is no slow wireless charging setting (or any wireless charging settings at all) on the iPhone.

iPhone 12 user here. It seems to work if the placement on the pad is just right on leisurely trips where I don’t turn or corner to much and the phone stays right where I put it. When charging it doesnt seem to deplete more than it charges but stays steady. Tried with and without the case and doesn’t seem to make a difference. If I need a boost, or wireless CarPlay doesn’t work I always have the cable so I’m not to distracted messing with it. Wish it was 100% effective though.
