Hi
Are there any parking sensors to upgrade cx50? My wife is really missing them.
You may be in luck Charlie! They do have some for almost every current Mazda model, though the cx50 isn't listed in the drop down it does say to you can select "other model" & sibce basically all the Mazdas being produced now are very much alike the link below is worth looking into. *And yes multiple people from this forum and the cx-30 have bought from that site it is legit it takes a few weeks to get the items.

Don’t they call come with parking sensors? We have front, rear and front and rear cameras.
No, turbo premium plus only comes with parking sensors
We bought a turbo premium and were also disappointed to not have backup parking sensors since they come standard on most trims of any new vehicle these days. Mazda sells kits for some models for about $500 or so to add the sensors, but there isn't one as of today for the CX-50. I bought one off amazon for $30 or so and installed it myself. There are lots of them available so browse around. This one had audio only (no display unit - we didn't want one).

I remember the good old days when bumpers were steel and you used them as proximity sensory devices.🤣

This is another "safety system" that I have to turn off on a regular basis. Whenever I back into the garage, this system will slam, and I do mean SLAM on the brakes, very annoying.

Nice writeup! You should move this (copy/delete) to the new Mods & Accessories sub forum.

You can permanently turn off the rear brake assist without turning off your parking sensors. It will stay off and not default back to 'on' after a restart. First time I backed into my garage mine slammed on. That was the last time that feature was on. Look in the connect safety settings.
Since this forum seems to be about parking sensors, have a 2023 CX50 2.5T GT Prem Plus and the front parking sensor function is intermittent. When I first purchased the car it recognized my garage door and the huge orange cone I have inside to let me know how far I'm in the garage. But lately, the system doesn't come out of nav as I enter the garage (forward direction). (Also, have never had any braking issues backing out, seems to understand it has a clear roadway behind it.) Yesterday for example, pulled into the hospital parking lot and the system functioned just like it reads in the manual. Went over to the mall and the system failed to recognize the huge blue wall I was slowing parking in front of. Came back home and again, stayed in nav mode, never invoked the camera or sensors as I pulled up to my garage. Dealership is not getting any error messages. Entire car is pristine clean. But like I said, it has a mind of it's own. Works when it wants to, not to conditions that are in the manual. Also, the manual states I should have a front cross traffic setting, my only function option is for a rear cross traffic setting. The Infomat is upgraded to the latest software, the CX50 is the top of the line, but I seem to be missing a lot of the safety function settings. Again, dealership doesn't seem to be up to speed on all the technical of the vehicle and keep contacting Mazda Canada who are slower than molasses on responding back with an answer. SO, I hope someone here in the forum can shed some light on this.

It's interesting that you would bring this up, I'm having a similar experience, it's almost like the car is "learning" my parking habits and adapting. When I first bought the car, it would repeatedly slam on the brakes while backing into the garage. So as I posted earlier, I starting turning the system off when backing in. However, because this was such a critical safety system (at least in my mind), I would always turn it back on immediately after parking. With time, there were instances that I noticed I had forgotten to disable the system while backing into the garage without any alarms, so I decided to not turn the system off anymore. I've now backed into the garage for 50-75 times and not a single time has the system alerted or applied the brakes. It almost feels like the system "learned" my parking habits, I doubt that's true, but it does seem odd.

I keep reading the i-ACTIVSENSE section regarding 360 View Monitor and Parking Sensor System in the manual. The only thing I can think of is that I might not have the view set to top view/side view but front view/front wide and that is what is defaulting to and therefore not triggering the obstruction detection (like pulling in the garage, parking). Have an appointment with Mazda to have the system checked over (AGAIN), but each time they don't find any flags/issues in the diagnostics.

I don’t know exactly how the system works so I won’t won’t blow smoke up anyones azz, but do the cameras in the grille, mirrors, and rear do the work in conjunction with proximity sensors and radar? I didn’t think they did, but I really don’t know.
A lot of smart cookies here, someone will know.
