Hi everyone so I just noticed this prince of fabric coming out of my dash. I didn’t notice it before so not sure if it was there when I bought or just magically appeared lol. Passenger side.

Mine was coming out on the drivers side. It came out twice after shoving it back in. I just ripped the thing out the third time. It’s about four inches long and about 3/8 in height. It has some form of adhesive on one side to keep it tucked down in the crack. Not nearly enough, I can tell you.

I also have this coming out on my drivers side. I was going to tell my dealership. Did anyone else report to to their dealership? What’s the purpose of it?

Also, to be fair my parents have a 2016 CX-5 and the same thing happened on their car. Still not great but seems like something that other Mazda’s also have happen.

It’s a piece of felt. I assume it is for noise reduction as the dash expands and contracts due to weather.

Happened to most of us. Just use a credit card and shove it back in there.
I took mine in, shoving it in won't fix the problem, they removed the upper dash and replaced it all, also had to have the Steering wheel replaced as the heating system wasn't heating it up properly, wireless phone charging pad, also had to be replaced as it was always saying not available, I'm still having issues with the informant system being black upon start up! They have tried a soft ware upgrade, but no changes to the problem.

What was wrong with your steering wheel heater? Mine only heats a few specific areas of the wheel.

It only heats at the at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock locations but mine was not even Luke warm , so they just replaced it and it works perfect.
Glad to hear it’s working again. Does the new wheel still only heat at the 3 o’clock 9 o’clock locations? Just trying to determine if it’s designed that way?

Correct. However, I don’t feel it is the best heated steering wheel. It’s more of a lukewarm steering wheel than a heated steering wheel.
I had mine checked, due to the same reason. The warranty covered a complete steering wheel replacement no cost to me. Also covered the fabric coming out of the sides of the upper dash, also replaced my fuel door, as it is plastic door kept falling off , warranty covered a metal door and assembly replacement, also wireless charge pad fixed as well. No problem, all covered by warranty.

Just to confirm, your steering wheel is heated at the top and bottom?
Not the sides?
Mine is heated in the 8-10 o clock and 2-4 o’clock positions.
