Hello all,

Purchased CX50 TPP back in June in California, within a week of purchase, drove it almost 2400 miles cross country. Now it has aprox. 9200 miles on it with one service done at the dealership. Following are the issues I had/have with the car...

1) Bought it with a small plastic trim behind the gear selector missing. Dealership where I bought sent me the part (the whole rectangle piece that sits in the center around the gear selector) . Dealership who performed first service put it in. No charge.
2) Trim piece that sits in the center dash (from middle to the passenger side) was peeling off. Fixed by dealership during first service. No charge.
3) Driver side mirror (just the mirror) vibrating at above 45 MPH and making cars look "fuzzy". Mirror was replaced by dealership during first service. No charge. Issue still persists.
4) Rattling noise at certain "speeds and angles" from the passenger side area (under the dash? in the dash?) Dealership acknowledge the issue but was told it is "acceptable". Very... Verrryyy Annoying!
5) Not sure if this an issue or I just have't figured it out yet. Starting the car via MyMazda does not start the heated steering wheel and seats. (Heated steering wheel and Driver side seat linked in the Occupant Comfort. Passenger side seat is not.) Cimate control is left on "Auto" and on before turning off the car prior to using remote start.
If anyone can answer these question, I will greatly appreciate.... a) does the "lights" in the climate control buttons come on when starting using MyMazda remote start? b) Does both driver and passenger side seats need to be linked for them to come on with remote start?
6) Recent issue (~12/23 onwards) camera under the driver side mirror is "bent". When using cameras, parking lines on the monitor looks like "/ |" instead of " | |"
Update on (6): There was a snow storm. Mirrors where iced in. Hence they didn't open automatically. Once the snow melted a little bit, I manually opened them. That's when I noticed the issue. I was like, ah damn, I broke it. The mirrors where swinging loose as well. I drove it like that for couple days. Then I folded them using the driver door button for mirrors and "unfolded" them again and voila! it fixed both issues.

Things I added to/bought for the car after the purchase.
1) OEM CX50 sunshade
2) OEM All weather mats
3) Splash guards - Front & Rear

Apart from 3), 4) and 5) above, I have been absolutely loving the CX50. It definitely is a looker and you don't get to see that many on the road.

Oh, averaging 21/22 miles per gallon on regular gas.

A quote of mine from another post:
I hit 10k last week with my Turbo Premium Plus. One thing that's bothering me lately is that the center console lids have become a little creaky-squeaky. It's the little spring mechanism at the front of the lids causing the noise. Also, I noticed that in slow stop & go traffic, the car jumps/jerks forward when giving it the minimal amount of throttle. This happens when just rolling forward at like 5mph. It doesn't behave this way above 10mph, only under 10mph. It's like the transmission engages very aggressively like it's trying to shift but then changes its "mind"? Not sure, but those are my only negative observations so far.
I'm sorry to hear you've had so many issues already! I also dislike the remote start functionality. I don't want the car to turn off when I open the driver door, it just adds more wear and tear to the starter, so I stopped using it. Only useful things the app is good for are for seeing if your doors are locked.

I have the same mods as you do. One thing I wanna add is that installing the side rocker garnish from the meridian edition really ties in the side skirts to the front and rear "skid plates" and adds a nice bit of flair to the design. The only thing is that you to drill 5 holes per side, which may deter a lot of folks from doing it themselves. I sat on the kit for months before I worked up the nerve to install them.

Howdy car-twin brothaa! I am digging the side rockers on yours! I may get them as well. Did you buy it from the dealership? What are your thoughts on the Meridian edition wheels? I was thinking about buying a set and switch current ones out.

I am leaving the car at the dealership for a week starting 1/7 for second service at ~9900 miles since I will be out of state for the week. I brought up the rattling issue again. They told me they are going to reach out to Mazda and say this is the second time car came back reporting the same issue and ask for their advice. Btw, I have noticed the "jerky" transmission at very low speeds too! Knowing yours does the same, I am relieved that it is not an issue and just the CX50's "personality" :)

I ask a favor of you. No.5 of my post, if you can give it a try on yours and see how it behaves, it will help me a lot. If you were to turn off your car with the climate control running on auto (driver seat and steering linked in Occupant Comfort) and then start it via MyMazda app, does the steering and driver seat come "on'/ feels warm?

No.6 on post is not any issue anymore. There was a snow storm. Mirrors where iced in. Hence they didn't open automatically. Once the snow melted a little bit, I manually opened them. I bought them from www.mazdaswag.com. You’ll get a little bit of a discount buying them from there versus the dealer.

I dig the meridian edition wheels, too, and you might get enhanced comfort by switching to those 18” wheels and getting tires with a larger sidewall. The only downside that I can think of is that with larger sidewall tires, you’ll lose a small amount of handling “prowess”, or “sharpness.” Higher sidewall will have more potential to flex while cornering than a shorter & stiffer sidewall tire like we have on our 20” wheels. It’s a trade off that you’ll have to consider. Comfort, or sharper handling. I’ve often considered the trade-off, myself, and I’m sticking with what I’ve got for now. Also, I did a quick comparison of size on 245/45r20 versus 225/60r18 tires on this website ( Tire Size Comparison ) and I see that the tires for the 18” wheels will only have 1 more revolution per mile, so they’re nearly identical in circumference, and I don’t think a speedometer recalibration would be needed.

Next time I’m in the car, I will test that out for you. I never have the climate control set to “Auto”, and I’ve only seen the AC turn on during remote start only if I’ve left it on before turning the car off after the last drive. With that being said, when I get in and start the car normally, not remote start, the car forgets that I had the ventilated seats activated, and I always have to turn them back on each time I start the car. I haven’t tried it with the heated seats since I’m in FL and the few cold mornings we’ve had this winter season, I have simply turned them on after sitting down.

Glad your mirrors aren’t broken and were just frozen! That’s weird that they vibrate, though…
