New Preferred Plus Owner

Picked up a new preferred plus a month ago and wanted to introduce myself. It joined my '22 BMW M4 that I also have in the stable.

I ordered the M4 in January 2022 and took delivery April 2022 thinking it would be my daily. However, it does not come with a spare tire or run flats and I ended up getting stuck 400 miles from home waiting for a tire replacement on one of my last road trips.

Alas 2 weeks after that trip I picked up the Preferred Plus at my local Mazda dealer. I always wanted a small SUV anyway!

The BMW community on the forums is a very large and helpful one. If this community grows to even be a fraction of that one then we'll all be in good hands.

So far I'm enjoying the new ride. Only annoyances so far are the dreaded panoramic roof rattle and exterior B pillar trim alignment. Only logged 1100 miles but just got back from an 800 mile round trip on Sunday and it was flawless.

Looking forward to getting to know several of you. I have an extensive background in the automotive industry and general engineering and am currently an engineering manager for an aerospace company.

Welcome to the forum. It’s pretty quiet around here, but hopefully as more people join it’ll liven up. I’ve also been a contributor and reader of many forums and consider them excellent resources, so the more the merrier!

Welcome! Have had my Soul Red Crystal PFP for just over a week now and really love it so far. Always had a blue car before but the current blue is too dark for my liking so I went with the red since it's such a fun color. So sharp looking!

Congrats and welcome!

No wonder you are here after that pesky BMW left you stranded. I am surprised you still own it. haha Are there spare tires available or spares from an older BMW that may fit? If so, maybe worth it to buy one and throw in the trunk for longer trips where you might not want to take the Mazda? I own an MX-5 and this is what a lot of fellow MX-5 owners do. The downside is lost trunk space but at least you have a back seat to make up for it.

Haha I've been a BMW owner for years. I recently sold my 2007 3 series that I had for almost 13 years (bought lightly used) and it was solid. The M4 remains in the stable and is just too much fun to let go. It has the carbon fiber bucket seats as well. I ordered to my spec and it was produced and delivered about 3 months later. The cutout in the trunk where a spare could "almost" fit is actually where the battery is. It would have to sit on top with the luggage and isn't worth the sacrifice in cargo space. It's easier just to have the CX-50 now for those trips, especially with the unpredictability of the weather here in the Carolinas.

So far I'm loving the CX-50. I think it's one of the best looking compact SUVs on the road at the moment. I do worry about some of the more major issues some folks have had on here with failing differentials and such, but hey that's why we have warranties right?

Welcome aboard, and as a forum user you are probably aware that most posts can be perceived as bitching about problems. Knock on wood our four Mazdas in the last couple of years have been excellent.
Long term reliability is the unknown for us now.
Time will tell.
Btw for your M4 you could get a roof rack a strap a spare up there for a true hillbilly look.🤣
