Hey all!

Placed on order 3 weeks ago for a wind chill + terracotta interior turbo premium to replace my 2009 subaru outback 2.5xt. I love my outback but with the family growing (cannot seat 3 in the backseat, cx50 can for us), wife unable to drive manual, and the financial irresponsibly (haha) of keeping a "hobby" car around ive decided to let it go. The current 0.9% APR was also a no brainer for me.

While I never ever buy a 1st gen car (especially 1st gen at a 1st gen factory too!), ive decided to bite the bullet on the cx50 due to not only its real good looks but it at least has a tried and true engine from previous models. I can deal with rattling sunroofs, cracked seat bolsters, etc but need the drivetrain to be solid. I do hope that that tried and true engine doesnt come with the mazda signature oil burn issue however! The only wishlist for this car is more advanced ADAS. I wish it had true lane centering for those long boring road trips. I'll hope that one day comma.ai will be supported on this car.

Since im replacing my beloved outback I needed another car enthusiast's car to match my modified outback's capabilities on the twisties. If the CX50 turns out to be reliable, when the warranty expires I do plan on adding the corksport big brake kit and suitable 19in wheels (Volk ce28?). I also wish there were more overlanding options like a true platform rack like that of the prinsus to add to this car. I feel like mazdas will never hit that list however.

ironically the last mazda i drove was a mazda protege5 wagon before deciding on the outback. I remember it being real loud in the cabin while accelerating haha...typical mazda i assume.

None of the Mazdas I own have been quiet, for sure. The CX-50 comes close to approaching general quiet on nice surfaces, but some pavement really makes it sing. Also, I don’t think it’s acoustic glass, so general traffic noise is higher than on a CX-5, which we cross-drove.
I am able to carry on conversation easily and hear the radio without cranking it at 80, so it’s fine, but it’s not luxury.
There’s a lot to like about the car and features - I hope you enjoy yours.

My first Mazda also, actually my first Non Ford vehicle. I’ve purchased first year models in the past, yes lots of trips to dealer mostly software upgrades. I wasn’t to concerned about the CX50 since the engine and tranny have been used for 10 years. If something pops up, that’s what the warranty is for. 2000 miles and so far liking it. Not quite as nice as the Edge I traded in for it but the price made up for it.
