For those out there with Cx50 and use Mazda Connected Service, can you please comment on your experiences? Specifically, on the remote starting feature, when you start the car does the climate control turn on even if you don’t have the “AUTO” button engaged? it seems inconvenient to make sure the button is pressed before you get out of the car, if you want the inside heated or cooled in the morning with a remote start.

My current Honda has a remote start button on the key fob (like most cars) and would automatically start the climate control upon a remote start even without the AUTO button engaged. It even starts up the window defroster in winter times, which I love.

To my knowledge and experience with using remote start with my CX-50, the climate control will return to the last setting when the car was turned off. So yes, if you want auto mode, you have to turn it on before you turn the car off. They really need to add remote climate control to the phone app.

I also wish the car would not shut off after using remote start when you unlock any door. I get it’s a safety concern, but it defeats the purpose of you trying to keep the interior cool on a hot day while you get a kid strapped in, offload your groceries, etc.

Thanks for the info. Just to make sure I am getting this right, the climate control will still come on after a remote start to heat or cool the cabin regardless of whether the Auto button has been engaged or not before the car was turned off?

I totally agree with you that Mazda needs to add remote climate change function to the app, especially when they will be charging for the service after your three year complimentary period ends.

As for the auto shutoff after unlocking any door, that is another minus as my Honda doesn’t do this and the climate control continues after getting in the vehicle with no interruption.

Correct, if you turn the car off with the a/c on, it will come on with a remote start. If you turn the car off with the a/c off, no a/c on a remote start. Whatever settings the climate control is at when you turn the car off, that's what it comes back on with.

There is also a setting in Mazda connect on the car to link occupant comfort for the driver and/or passenger seats if you have the ventilated seats. This only works when the 'auto' climate control button is used. For example, I have my driver's seat comfort turned on, a/c on, and the 'auto' button pushed when I turn off my car. Upon a remote start, not only does my climate system come on in auto mode with a/c, but my ventilated driver's seat also gets a/c flowing through it as well. Wish it could all be done through the app, but this is what we have for now.

Thanks again. Any idea if or when a climate control function might come to the app?
