Low Milage on New CX-50

I've had my CX-50 Turbo for 10 days, and after burning through a half tank of gas, I'm getting about 18 mpg (i-stop has been on). I don't drive many miles, maybe 15 miles per day on average. I'm surprised at the low mpg. I had a Subaru WRX turbo with a manual transmission and got 24 mpg. What kind of mlieage can I expect?

Plenty has been discussed already here on this forum about mpg.
It will improve in time when the vehicle gets more miles.
You can do a search here and get many previous threads on mpg.

You can expect 20-23mpg depending on how much stop & go. Highway, up to 30-31 if you keep below 65mph
Thanks for the replies. Do i-stop and running 93 octane factor in?

With a turbo motor, it’s the driver’s habits more than anything. Weather, temperature and elevation also is a factor.

I-stop counts for virtually nothing (unless, maybe, if you are in a very bad traffic jam) and 93 octane might give you 1-2mpg if you're lucky (but Jury is still out on this) - certainly not worth the cost from an mpg perspective.
Can it make 400 miles per tank? Mine got turbo.

Depends on many factors. Terrain, wind, load, style of driving.
I get 25 or so on the hwy at 75mi/hr in cruise control. My zoom-zoom is a turbo with 3500 miles on it so far. Higher octane gas make just a small difference.
Still averaging 27 combined on each tank. Non-turbo with roof racks. About 60% hwy driving at 75-80 and 40% on very hilly back roads. I don't understand folks getting below 20 mpg unless it is foot to firewall from a dead stop every time. lol.

I drive with a light foot and coast to most red lights if I can. Most my driving is 45-50 mph on my way to work with not too many lights plus bs driving around my town. I have 2k non turbo and have been getting 27.5-29 mpg. Very happy with this so far and the non turbo has all the pep I really need.

What grade of gas (octane) are you using. Also Sport Mode impacts gas mileage.
My turbo has been getting about 22 around town, and more like 30 on the freeway. It has about 2700 miles on it now. My around town driving does consist of some fairly open miles; it's not all just stop and go and sitting at lights. I've owned a fair number of Mazdas, and good gas mileage has never been their strong suit.
I came from a 2020 Ford Ranger with a 2.3l Turbo and it took a long while for it to break in. The engine also is learning so I would not expect to see great milage till around 2500 miles. I am getting around 21 mpg with a 4.5 mile commute. I see it start going up on the highway but haven't done any long trips yet. Just hit 500 Miles on my Meridian Turbo. With the Ranger I'd get more power with the 93 but didn't seem to get any better milage. So mostly just when I was towing I'd fill up with it.
