So today I experienced an issue while using cruise control. It was as if the car started to get tossed around from left to right a couple times. It felt like I was trying to maintain the car centered on a really windy day. In fact if it had been windy I would have thought it was that. But as soon as the radar cruise control disengaged the car returned to feeling stable again. I would say it lasted about 5 to 10 seconds. There was a warning on the display but I can't remember what it read.

Anyone else experience something like this or know what it could be?

What was the condition of the road?
As in were there traces of white tire marks from snow on the road surface.
In the winter I have my lane keep assist turned off for this reason as a previous vehicle I had with that feature would get fooled by the snow strips on the road thinking they were lines.
Just a thought.

I thought it might be that as well but there wasn't any vibration on the steering well like you would get with lane keep assist so don't think that was it.

I could be wrong, but I think the lane keep assist is disabled above a certain speed (60mph maybe?) for this exact reason, as moving the wheel at highway speeds could cause someone to lose control. So you're right, it probably wasn't that.

What it could be is simply using cruise control on a snowy road. It's generally bad practice to use cruise control in a low-grip situation, as the car is applying constant power regardless of the conditions on the road, and could cause you to lose traction. So if your road was snowy, that could absolutely be it. And the subsequent warning could have been the traction control fighting to keep you from spinning out.
