Hey Kristy. Just got my CX-50. So far so good. In NWArk availability is sparse. I didn't want to wait on the turbo so got the step down since it was in stock. Word is most "in transit" units are 2-4 weeks out. Congrats on the package and color choice. Update us when you get it on how you like it.

Well Mazda canceled my order and stated they are not taking orders until fall. What a disappointment!!
Yeah, I was told Mazda is not doing any custom orders when I purchased mine in April. You get what is coming to the dealer from the factory. That said, you really only need to find the right trim level and ext/int color you want (I know easier said than done). Everything else, (tow hitch, splash guards, cross bars, all weather mats, cargo cover, etc.) can be ordered and dealer installed. Ask your dealer to look ahead in their allotment from the factory to put a deposit hold on one that is the right trim and ext/int color.

how often/how many does the dealer get with their “factory allotment”? i spoke with 3 dealers in my area all of which said they do not have any coming in at all anytime soon

I wish there was a magic ball to see or know how dealer allocation works. From the minimum knowledge I have, it all comes down to your region of the country and dealer volume (i.e. little guy or big name). As an example, when I was looking in San Diego, all the dealers (5 total), started getting 5-7 every couple weeks. There were only two colors and trims (Premium Plus, Turbo PP, Poly metal, Zircon sand) and either black or terracotta interior. I think Mazda did this to gauge initial interest on what people were willing to pay for the higher trims. Dealers here can't keep 50s more than a day or two as most are being held by deposits before they even come in. Seeing the high turnover, and being San Diego is in a region Mazda knows the 50 will sell more of, they will continue to ship them here. Take that same thought process and think of a middle of no where dealer and they are probably still waiting on their first 50 because Mazda knows higher selling regions are where the profit is at.

Your best bet is to keep hounding your local dealers on incoming inventory and use mazdausa.com to look at inventory in your area. Sometimes that site will show incoming 50s with an estimated date of delivery.

Same thing where I am--high demand for CX-50's and there are multiple Mazda dealers across FL who seem to get varying allotments. Maybe because I've purchased multiple vehicles over time from my dealer, but they were willing to trade one of their black interior vehicles for one with my desired terracotta interior from another in-state dealer (and that dealer of course thankfully agreed).
