iPhone Battery Drain with Wireless Carplay

Hi all, I’m having big iPhone battery drain when connected to wireless Apple CarPlay, Today I took a short trip, 1 hr 45 min, I selected wyze from the CarPlay screen just for alerts I did not have a destination set. The phone got red hot and battery dropped from 80 to 40 %. I know I can plug in, but kind of defeats the purpose .
Anyone have this issue and maybe a workaround
Thank You

Wireless Carplay is demanding on the battery of your phone. Many processes are running in the background to keep all the info on your car display updated even if you're not using a maps app or streaming music. On shorter (30 minutes or less), not plugging your phone should not have as much of a drop. But, with a 1hr and 45min and not plugging it in, IMO your results are expected. You can check the health of your iPhone battery to see how depleted it is. Settings>Battery>Battery Health & Charging>Maximum Capacity. For reference, my 3-4 year old iPhone 11 is sitting at 84% maximum capacity and needs to be charged every day with normal use.
Thank you, my phone is a 12 and at 87% capacity. Are there any settings that can be changed? Maybe in the nav apps!
You could try some of these tips but for the most part, it's just how Apple makes another buck with crappy battery performance. Batteries - Maximizing Performance

I experienced this with my iPhone 10 XR this past Christmas before it bit the dust, and I don't seem to have as much of an issue battery wise on my 13. That's both Spotify and Maps running at the same time. So it might have a thing to do with age of the phone. But it could be I haven't gone on any long trips with the 13 yet. When my 10's battery was drained on that Christmas trip, I decided to keep a lightning cable in the car with a USB port.
