Hello, Turbo, Premium Plus Package owners.

No resolution from Dealer:
Turbo PP Package.
Heated steering wheel does not work. No heat.
Much smaller windshield wiper on passenger side is ineffective.

Have any of you experienced any of these issues?

Thanks.

My heated steering wheel works, but very limited need to use here in FL. ;)

Is your climate control set to Auto? According to the owner's manual, that will link the steering wheel heating to the overall settings. If the cabin is already warm enough, it will shut off or not turn on steering heating at all. But, you can also override that by operating the steering heater button manually (if in Auto, turn off using the separate steering heater button which unlinks it from the climate setting and then turn it on again). You will know the steering heater is linked as the Auto icon on the climate control display will include a steering wheel icon as well.

I've had other vehicles where there are two differently sized wipers and the passenger one doesn't clear what I'd consider enough windshield area. If you mean it isn't doing a good job of clearing rain and mist/fog even in its pathway, then sounds like there may be an issue with the wiper blade placement or the edge was damaged or got something on it (like dealer prep products) that is causing the issue. If you haven't already, check the blade edge, the angle and clean it off with a microfiber cloth (if you have rubbing alcohol, use a little of that on the cloth).

Excellent. Thanks so much. I had a 2017 Audi Q7 where the heated steering wheel was never corrected. Dealer even went so far as to replace the entire steering wheel! Heat was almost luke warm after that. I had heard many descriptions of why it doesn't work. "ambient temp, full moon, Jupiter moon is third quarter, sun on the steering wheel" :D I'll give yours a try. Sounds right and very "common sensicle".

I did carefully go through your same steps for the wiper. Do you have the same setup for your wipers? (larger and smaller) Anyone else? I believe the smaller wiper is not as heavy as the much larger driver side wiper, and wondering also about the tension. (any adjustment for that?) My wife had her wipers and wiper motor replaced with "heavy duty" wiper and upgraded motor on her Passat and works well now. Assume you have a few bugs hitting the windshield in FL, and I'm in Culpeper, VA, so bugs in the summer. I used a special "bug windshield fluid" which has always worked well in other cars and it does for the driver side wiper.

Next topic will be windshield tint for front seat side windows. Assume you've tinted yours in FL? We have a "50% blockage rule in VA". Have you seen that topic here LeeShadow?

I should always end my comments with, "The CX-50 has become one of my favorite vehicles"
Thanks again Lee.

I've only had cars with heated steering wheels since moving to FL, so usually just got that due to other features only available in associated trim levels. Friends with Subarus swear by them in colder climates. I do love the cooled front seats, however--very refreshing to avoid the dreaded "swamp ass" :ROFLMAO: on very hot days.

Wipers are the same as yours. Only noticed it doesn't cover as much of the windshield as the drivers. There could be a tension adjustment, but don't know more than that. I think (??) I saw a TSB or maybe in the online subscription workshop manual regarding a unique design of the wiper motor placement in the CX-50 and cautions around that when replacing the wiper arms.

I also swear by the green RainX wiper fluid, esp here with the summer love bug infestations.

Mine came tinted from the dealer and it meets my needs, but I am considering the clear 3M UV blocking film for the panoramic glass. I love driving around with the shade open but I can definitely feel the heat difference inside again because of the hot days here.

My steering wheel seem to heat more on one side that they other and overall does not seem that warm, but I was going to wait till it's a little cooler here to see how it actually feels. Hasn't rained on mine yet, so I don't know about the wipers though. I did have a bird poop on the hood that left two marks that I now have to deal with now. :(

We live in Canada and we do experience some cooler weather at times. It was -34° the day we drove home in our new CX50. Like another reader mentioned, your steering wheel is likely linked to the ambient air temperature. We actually found the steering wheel to be too warm and (deliberately) linked it to the air temperature of the vehicle. Now it just provides a nice warmth instead of being too hot. (Haven’t had to use our washer fluid yet so I cannot offer an opinion on this at this time).

I have not been able to 1.) turn my auto temp selection off or on and 2.) Have not been able to turn my heated steering wheel on and off with or without the auto temp on or off. When in auto mode, my heated steering wheel stays heated for no more than 15 minutes. After that, there is no way to turn it back on.
From the Manual:
Manual mode
The heated steering wheel operates for about 30 minutes when the heated steering wheel switch is pressed, and then automatically turns off.
To turn the heated steering wheel off manually, press the switch again.
Auto mode
The heated steering wheel can be operated in conjunction with auto mode for the climate control system. Auto mode operates when auto mode is enabled in the Mazda Connect settings.
If the heated steering wheel switch is pressed during auto mode or the auto operation of the climate control system is canceled, the heated steering wheel switches from auto mode to manual mode.
To return to auto operation, press the AUTO switch for the climate control system.

Just to clarify. After turning on the push button "activation switch", heated steering wheel stays on for only about 10 minutes, then cuts off. This is regardless of the "ambient temperature" inside the cabin.

Poorly crafted Owner's Manual, but here is more on heated steering wheel not staying on for more than 10 minutes. (manual states "about 30 minutes") This is from the Owner's Manual with my comments: BTW-reference to the "Mazda Connect Owner's Manual" is incorrect in the "Owner's Manual", but the correct URL provides no additional help. Correct URL: ========================================================
Manual mode
The heated steering wheel operates for about 30 minutes when the heated steering wheel switch is pressed, and then automatically turns off.
To turn the heated steering wheel off manually, press the switch again. HOW IS THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL TURNED ON ONCE IT GOES OFF? NOT EXPLAINED ANYWHERE IN THE MANUAL! MINE STAYS ON FOR ONLY 10 MINUTES AND NOT 30 AS INDICATED IN THE MANUAL AND THEN CUTS OFF!!!
Auto mode

The heated steering wheel can be operated in conjunction with auto mode for the climate control system. Auto mode operates when auto mode is enabled in the Mazda Connect settings.
Refer to the Settings section in the Mazda Connect Owner's Manual.[url reference in the Owner’s Manuel is incorrect. Use this>>https://www.mazdausa.com/static/manuals/mazdaconnect/contents/32010100.html Press the AUTO switch to select auto mode.
While operating in auto mode, the
is displayed. Refer to Fully Automatic Type on page 5-10.
The heated steering wheel automatically operates/turns off according to the conditions in the cabin.
NOTE
If the heated steering wheel switch is pressed during auto mode or the auto operation of the climate control system is canceled, the heated steering wheel switches from auto mode to manual mode. [HOW IS THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL CONTROLLED IN MANUAL MODE? WHERE IS THIS EXPLAINED IN THE MANUAL? ]

To return to auto operation, press the AUTO switch for the climate control system.
If the ignition is switched OFF while the heated steering wheel is operating in auto mode, the heated steering wheel operates in auto mode again the next time the ignition is switched ON.
===========================================================
Will take it back to Mazda dealer next week. VERY, VERY disappointed in Mazda's unwillingness to confirm that I DO have an issue. I believe that I should be able to always turn on the heated steering wheel regardless of either auto or manual mode. Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks.

Not sure how long my heated wheel stays on, but usually long enough for the car itself to warm up such that I don't need it anymore. But if you want it on again after it turns off, just press the button again and you'll get another 10mins (or whatever) of heat again. Pretty simple.

Nope, not mine. Whether in Manual or Auto Mode, won't go back on.

Sounds like there is an issue with yours as mine can be selected back on again after it’s shut off.
And....
The only way I can turn off the Auto "switch" which I assume places it to "manuel" mode is to change the direction of the vented cool or warm air by pressing that button to the right. Just pressing the Auto switch again, does not turn it off. Sounds like I may have a computer issue, amongst other issues. "Never buy a new model"! I should have listened.

New or 5 years proven, mechanical devices will have issues.
Many components in the 50 have been around for years. It’s not ‘all’ new.
