Has anyone done any investigation on whether the wiring already exists for lower level trims to upgrade to PPT Heads and Tails?

Id love to upgrade my Premium Plus tail lights to the Turbo style.

They look like the same tail lights in the pics I have seen. Whats different?
There are certain elements that don't light up on the non premium trims or the trims which aren't labeled as having the full LEDs. I haven't found a comparison video that really shows it for the cx50 however the revamped CX-5 has a comparison video "below" which will give you a solid idea of what the difference is are between the trims. Now as far as if it's just wiring, I do believe the elements themselves are missing but if you compare to the cx-30 which is on the same platform as the cx50 the higher end lights on the cx30 were plug and Play hopefully that would be the same as the cx50 when they become available on the secondary market.

I have a turbo premium plus, my car does not have the additional elements on the front lights like the CX5. The surround of the inner light does not light up, it is just a metallic ring. Rears look similar to the CX5, not sure if there is a difference for other levels of CX50.

Yeah, the headlights seem to look the same with the turbos getting active headlights but they look the same to me. The tail lights look the same on the non turbos but it looks like the inner ones don't light up.

When my Turbo Premium Plus finally arrives at the dealer I may ask to test drive a non-turbo one as well just to feel the difference between the two. If I get that opportunity, I'll try to do a comparison of the headlight and tail light on both. The estimated date of arrival for mine currently is August 5th.

I am going to get a PFP trim and I love how the taillights look on the higher trims. If there is a way to get those inner lights on on the rear of the lower trims let us know. Not sure if it is just plastic that looks like a light or if it really is a functional light that has not been plugged in on the lower trims.

Below is the perfect post for you to review as somebody just recently did the upgrade to the taillights. Let us know what you think upon reading the article 😃
