Has anyone consider replacing the donut with a full size spare, and if so what location will you put it, I have a roof basket I think will be a spot for mine.

It looks like you can carve out the foam to fit a full sized spare.

And beyond the roof options, for those serious about using the 50 in the great outdoors and who don't want to compromise interior space a swing away rear hatch spare tire rack seems like a wise concept. I've seen hitch mounted versions for Subarus, etc.
