Does the Pano Moonroof really not open more than a crack?

Looking to get a CX 50 and I love the pano roof. However, all the videos I see of someone opening one(the actual glass, not just the fabric cover) show it only goes maybe 1/4 open over the front seats. My 2020 Mazda 6 has a wider moonroof opening and it's not a pano.
Is this really how far the actual glass opens to the outside?

Yes. You get used to it. I like it because how minimal it opens actually makes it bearable to leave it open at highway speeds.
I read it’s actually a Toyota design (panoramic moonroof) that Mazda decided to use. To answer your question it doesn’t slide all the way back. That being said it it doesn’t bother me, because I use tilt/vent the vast majority of the time.
Yes. Definitely some joint Toyota stuff as the software install files for some of the hardware are Toyota files.

Edit: all this makes sense with the joint Alabama assembly plant.

The joint effort with Toyota is all about access to their hybrid technology. Not really sure what’s in it for Toyota.
But to answer the original question, it is only a small opening. I do like panoramic roof as it lets in a lot of natural light.

I was just adding that there is definitely some part sharing, including the panoramic roof that was the original point.

I guess Toyota gets shared costs instead of footing the whole bill.
