Hey @ford1953jim welcome to the forum. I don't mind the cylinder deactivation these days. For my daily commute it can help quite a bit. It's odd the removed it for the 3 and kept it on other models.
What kind of spec is your 3?

Did not really care for all the black cladding, but when I saw it had cylinder deactivation, I ruled it out.
That is why I bought my 3 hatchback instead of a CX-5, no cylinder deactivation.
CX-50 engine was made in Mexico, and trans made in Japan.
My 3 hatch was all made in Japan.
The CX-50 appears to have more cargo space than the CX-5.
There was a CX-5 in front of it, and, with the added length and lower roof, I thought the CX-50 had a nicer profile.
I'm assuming you're referring to the non-turbo model?Saw a CX-50 at my dealers two days ago. Was interested in maybe replacing my 2021 3 hatchback.

This is false for the CX-50.there is no CDA in the turbo model.
You're correct. I got those two features mixed up. No CDA but has istop. The Turbo engine only has i-stop, which is not cylinder deactivation. Both features are completely different. Cylinder deactivation shuts off two of the four cylinders in certain driving conditions to improve fuel economy, not on the turbo model. Shutting off the entire engine at a complete stop in certain conditions is i-stop, which does have the manual button to turn the feature off. But it defaults back to on every time you restart the car.
