TPP with almost 15k miles. Haven't had any issues. Still loving the car. I believe it was built in February.
I've seen a couple of posts on this issue. IIRC one poster took it to the dealer and they did a TCU update which fixed the problem (YMMV)Also, I noticed that in slow stop & go traffic, the car jumps/jerks forward when giving it the minimal amount of throttle.
I am having this issue as well from 5 mph in stop and go traffic. The service advisor told me it's a normal behavior that happens on the CX-5s also as the transmission decouples from the engine if I recall correctly. I don't believe them but it is a bit jerky at low speeds.I hit 10k last week with my Turbo Premium Plus. One thing that's bothering me lately is that the center console lids have become a little creaky-squeaky. It's the little spring mechanism at the front of the lids causing the noise. Also, I noticed that in slow stop & go traffic, the car jumps/jerks forward when giving it the minimal amount of throttle. This happens when just rolling forward at like 5mph. It doesn't behave this way above 10mph, only under 10mph. It's like the transmission engages very aggressively like it's trying to shift but then changes its "mind"? Not sure, but those are my only negative observations so far.
I was told that one user on this forum updated the TCU to ver. 00010004 and it helped out with the problem. I just did the update about 30 mins ago and see that the MyMazda app performs the remote functions in about 5 secs, as compared to before where it would take up to 30 secs. I haven't driven the car yet but I will find out tomorrow and report whether the issue is fixed or not. If you need to perform the update too, reach out to ASH8.I am having this issue as well from 5 mph in stop and go traffic. If that was me (in a post above) that's not what I meant... I was meaning a Transmission Control Unit update (different TCU). But in any case, I was wrong. It was actually a transmission valve repair. See here on Reddit: (12) TP trim kept jerking in bumper to bumper traffic. Dealer is keeping the car and having Mazda engineers look at it. : CX50 (reddit.com)I was told that one user on this forum updated the TCU to ver. 00010004 and it helped out with the problem. Thanks for clearing that up. I'll mention it to my dealer next time I'm in for an oil change. If that was me (in a post above) that's not what I meant... All SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmissions use a feature called a "mechatronic gear" it serves to "lock" the torque converter as a direct drive transmission (above 5mph-7mph) so you get fast crisp shifting.I am having this issue as well from 5 mph in stop and go traffic. There is an update that fixes this problem. I went to the dealer and they flashed it. Haven’t happened since.I hit 10k last week with my Turbo Premium Plus. I just hit 10k last week. PFP - No issues to report - purchased in July..not sure the build...probably June...I purchased 2 days after it was delivered. It has been approximately 9 mos since deliveries began of the CX-50. By now there are certainly a number of CX-50‘s with 10k+ miles on them. I believe forum members would be interested in your positive and not so positive comments. Please provide current miles and whether you have a Turbo or non-Turbo and, if you know, manufacture month. We look forward to your reviews. Please try to provide constructive input.
Awesome. I received mine in June built in May, same no issues to date. Did the updates change anything noticeable?I just hit 10k last week. PFP - No issues to report - purchased in July..not sure the build...probably June...I purchased 2 days after it was delivered.
Had the software and tcu updated From files sent by " ASH8 "

not buying this at all the clowns at the dealer keep saying normal normal blah blah blah I've had 3 sky active cars none of them are like these cx 50s , there is definitely something up with these 50s as there's been a decent amount of people now having issues with these cars and there initial shifting in traffic and low speed driving. The tuning of these transmissions is not correct and there's clearly a common problem going on here my cars currently at the dealer been there so far 3 days waiting to hear back tech said a case is going to be opened due to this. gave them a tsb also about engine driving when cold so I'm hoping ill get a ecu flash alsoAll SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmissions use a feature called a "mechatronic gear" it serves to "lock" the torque converter as a direct drive transmission (above 5mph-7mph) so you get fast crisp shifting.
Please define ‘a decent amount of people’?not buying this at all the clowns at the dealer keep saying normal normal blah blah blah I've had 3 sky active cars none of them are like these cx 50s , there is definitely something up with these 50s as there's been a decent amount of people now having issues with these cars and there initial shifting in traffic and low speed driving. Between here on the forum to those in the cx 50 group on Facebook there's at a minimum I would say ten by now, I have a friend in New York who's a tech at a dealer up there and he spoke to me and said there's been 8 cars that he knows of at his specific store that have the same issue. He told me those were customer cars sold and everything he had a nineth car that was a brand new delivery that was " slamming gears " he said they have a valve body on order and are waiting for parts , "well see what happens that car had less then 50 miles and something seriously wrong right off the truck". There is clearly a problem with either the transmissions the valve bodies or the tuning. perhaps these earlier vehicles have a common defect. I've owned multiple sky active cars from my 3 to a cx5 and a cx9 none are like this especially compared to the loaner vehicles I've previously been in so there's minimum 19 giver or take that have a confirmed stutter shutter harsh shift etc. its clearly a trans problemPlease define ‘a decent amount of people’?
On this forum or have you other data?
Curious.
Ok so say there is 100. Out of about 20,000 built to date.Between here on the forum to those in the cx 50 group on Facebook there's at a minimum I would say ten by now, I have a friend in New York who's a tech at a dealer up there and he spoke to me and said there's been 8 cars that he knows of at his specific store that have the same issue. Oh trust me I'm there we had a 2020 escape new body new generation tons of problems , lemon lawed and now in a 50 but that's what I find odd the turbo 2.5 has been around for YEARS now so whats the big problem dumping it in a 50 I'll update when I hear back from the dealerOk so say there is 100. Not too bad for a first year production vehicle so far.
We are the beta testers. Everyone should know that going in on a first year model.
My logic was that is was based on the 30’s architecture with a long running driveline,
so technically not a completely new product.
Do not get me wrong, I feel for you as I too would be pissed if my new vehicle was giving me that grief.
