Car play connection issue, (sometimes)??

So my wireless car play connects 80% of the time. If I’m driving and realize it’s not connected, when I try to connect it while driving in the menu, it tries to connect and fails. I’ll try multiple times with no luck. But when I park, turn off the car, restart it, it connects again no problem. Am I missing something? I can’t figure out why it won’t connect sometimes or why I can’t connect it through the menu

I have the exact same problem intermittently. Took an 800 mile road trip recently and it was extremely annoying, was using connect and when stopping for gas, it was hit or miss on re-connection. Like you said the only solution was to stop the car and turn it off.
Turn phone to airplane mode then back on. Works almost every time.

I have found that you need to start the car and not put it in gear before all the tech starts, about 15 seconds. Then it completes properly 95% of the time. With Android a phone restart will connect it, usually, if your on the highway and don't want to stop for that. I have put on 9000 miles in 7 week, mostly interstate, so I understand.

Fwiw, I have made a little progress I think. I managed to uninstall Android Auto from my phone and then reinstall it from the Google Play. It presents differently on the center screen. A target like circle is now the top icon and a menu, vs the AA apps being the bottom icon before. The first couple of runs it worked better. I had tried to uninstall it before, but it always just took me back to Google Play. I asked my phone to 'launch android auto' and that is when it gave me the option to uninstall ... sorry that is the best I can do for instructions.

If this is the thread that had someone saying the car was ignoring their deletion and connecting anyway, even turning on BT in their phone, you actually have to accept those terms when you launch AA from a clean install.

Good luck to all.

I tried this a half dozen times, didn't work, neither did turning the wifi/bluetooth on/off. Nothing works for me except to stop/start the car.
