Base Turbo / 1,269 Miles / Replace Front Diff

Aloha Folks!

I love my Mauka (base Turbo) but at around 1k miles (bought new) it started developing this annoying gear whine. I thought it might have been tire noise but as it got worse, I dropped it off at my dealership yesterday, 04/10 and got a call today (04/11) that the whine is coming from my front differential. They’ve since overnighted a new diff from Chicago and it should go in on Thursday. Car is great otherwise - no complaints on the drivetrain. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Silver lining is that they sent me home with a CX-90 w/ the Inline 6 Turbo / Hybrid motor.

Not me, but I'm glad that your repair is being (as it should) covered under warranty and the replacement diff is readily available.

What are your thoughts on the CX-90? Have a relative super-interested. Way too big for my needs, but curious on your impressions given it being their new "large platform" and also the hybrid version. I really dig the different center console design on both the CX-60 and 90, and wish our 50's had it as well instead of the piano black and matte trim.

I’m pleasantly surprised it was available as well! Hopefully that’s the end of my new car woes…

As for the 90, this version doesn’t have the cool fabric interior that was in some of the YouTube videos. The center console has an unattractive (to me) silver finish. Driving dynamics don’t come anywhere close to the 50 and I like the aesthetics of the 50 much more as well. What kills the looks for me on the 90 are the giant slabs of sheet metal they call front doors. They really should have done something to dress up the profile.

Thank you--apparently my local dealer has some 90's on the lot so I'll take a looksee my next servicing if I don't otherwise see one on the road.
