Thanks Lee. If no aux input, where would I attach/insert the flash drive? I've got a flash drive with hundreds of songs. How would I listen to digitized songs via Bluetooth on the 50? BTW, any idea what this long "thing" is next to the 2 usb ports might be? (see attached)The current US spec Mazdas with the new Infotainment system including the CX-50 have eliminated the aux input, unfortunately. Less than perfect options then seem limited to a Bluetooth or (the dreaded) FM transmitter attached to your existing CD player. The ultimate solution is to start slogging through the time and labor intensive job of digitizing one's CD collection for playing then via a phone or USB flash drive. I already have most of my favorite music already digitized or it was originally always digital files, so the remaining music on CDs I have is just the nice to have stuff at this point. But of course what works for one person isn't always the preferred solution for another.
Tangentially, my other half purchased a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek late last year and we were both pretty surprised to see that the Limited trimline still has a CD player. We completely missed that during the test drive and spec comparisons probably because we weren't even considering it as a need, and only noticed a few days into ownership.
That longer slot is for the maps SD card if you have Mazda navigation. You should be able to put your USB stick into either slot and it should show under sources in entertainment. For Bluetooth, you need to connect your phone to your car to listen to songs. It’s under communication on your Mazda connect screen. Thanks Lee. Thanks again!
Sadly there isn't one. You can add one with a USB to Aux jack dongle from Amazon or CrutchfieldHi all. Anyone know where the Auxiliary Audio Input might be? Not found in the Owner's Manual. Hoping I can hook up an after market CD player.
I've got loads of songs loaded onto a thumb drive and have inserted it into one of the USB input slots. Shows up under "Sources" in Entertainment. WOW!! There are several ways that the Mazda "system" views/sorts the data (songs) on my thumb drive. Totally amazing, and so cool!! And of course with the Bose sound system, no need to ask me how great it sounds! That longer slot is for the maps SD card if you have Mazda navigation. the info should be in the Mazda Connect owners manual. Can someone tell if the Cx-50 Turbo Premium audio system, via the USB ports, can play FLAC codex files ?
And / or direct me to which audio formats it does support? Just wanting to have my music library in the highest quality song format that the system will present, being it doesn't play CDs.
Thanks
I have the CX-30 (shares many components with the CX-50) and leave my 32g thumb drives in both ports all the time, never remove them unless I want to change my music selection. Never had a problem with starting even thought my vehicle might sit for 1-2 weeks without driving it.I have a small samsung 32 g thumb drive which works well. However leaving it in when not using the car might drain the battery im thinking. Because its a power port that stays on even after you turn the car off. I tested with my phone being plugged in. Locked the car came back 5 minutes later still charging.
Had my car parked for a week with the drive in and started ok but the thumb drive felt a bit warmer than the rest but maybe just my imagination..
I checked Mazda connect owners manual and it only says that; " MP3/WMA/AAC CD " are supported or played.the info should be in the Mazda Connect owners manual.
