Seems like a lot of manufacturers do this. It's in case someone tries to break in and steal the car. There is no way to turn it off at this time, that I know of. I doubt there will be an aftermarket for that with this car. Still glad I can cool my car down or heat it up though.

Hey Y’all! I love my Cx-50 but absolutely hate how after you start car on app it turns off when you open the door. Any way to make it not turn off when door opens?
I had a 2015 Mazda 3 sedan with the Mazda Remote starter and the car shuts down when you open the door after remotely starting it. Apparently this has been there a while. Some aftermarket starters might have an option to bypass that "feature".

Well that's odd. I don't have my CX 50 yet but I'm surprised to hear that. Neither my Sierra or my wife's Civic shut off like that. My understanding is that if a potential thief tried to put it in gear without the key fob on his person then the car/truck would shut off.

Yes, this is a “safety feature” that car manufacturers do to thwart potential car thefts. But there has to be a way to where the car recognizes the key fob when a person enters. If it senses the key fob it should stay running. If no key fob then shut off.

And yes, whoever mentioned the wear and tear is correct. It’s not the inconvenience of pushing the button, it’s the wear and tear on the starter. Precisely the same reason I hate the auto shit off feature on cars when they stop at a light or something.

Agreed, that's why I usually turn the start/stop off when I can. I want to limit that kind of wear as much as possible.

Also that issue with the app and starting the car is annoying. I don't normally use the app to start the car but there should be a work around there.

Speaking of the app, when you open the door and it shuts off, it then sends you an auto start fail. Way too many notifications and I'm not one to want a bunch of badges and numbers on my icons.

I wish they'd fix that. It really should just stay on when you open the door, like every other vehicle made does. At the very least, it should NOT send me a failure message when IT shuts off when I open the door.

That's very peculiar that your sends that type of notification I have an experienced that yet. I wonder every installing the app would fix that issue.
