Anyone find any roof rack options (clips to factory rails) other than what mazda offers?

Neither Yakima nor Thule let you choose a 2023 model so I’ll have to email or call them tomorrow.

Thx,

Chip

I got my factory crossbars last Thursday. The wind noise they generate at highway speeds is horrendous. One of the very few disappointing aspects of my purchase so far. I’ll probably remove them and reinstall only when I need my Thule carrier for trips or those rare occasions when my wife wants to paddle board. If anyone comes across a quiet aftermarket set at some point, I’ll be eager to hear about them.

I watched a Mazda dealer salesman's Youtube video recently. If you want to look him up on Youtube his name is Jonathon Sewell. He is very informative and has provided great content. He took the CX-50 for his first drive and had to remove the crossbars while making the video due to the howling noise. I really respect him for posting the video.

Hope Mazda comes up with a solution.

I have existing Yakima Ridgeline towers (bases) and Jetstream bars from my CX-5, and am hoping that Yakima will either point to an existing base clip kit that works with the factor side rails or then manufactures a new one. Yakima recently updated their vehicle fit selection to include the CX-50, but it then asks someone local to them in Oregon to come in so they can figure out what clip kit will work. Here's hoping a CX-50 owner will do so soon.

But, I'm fairly confident that an existing clip kit should fit, given how many they already have. In fact, the outer clip that works on the CX-5 seems to also work on the CX-50 rail. But the CX-5 rail has backside holes unlike ours and the inside clip has a pin, plus the angles on that clip also don't seem to align well with the CX-50.

I have the factroy cross bars install as well. However, I replaced the rubber strips with the vortex strips from the rihno racks. The replacement strips are a prefect fit and cut the noise by 80-90%.

You'll need 6 to do both bars and it'll take only minutes to swap out.

Great news!
I am driving around with styrofoam with zip ties. This is worth a try.
I visited the Yakima website and the cross bars were listed for the CX50 but nothing to mount the cross bars. After 30 minutes on hold to confirm how these cross bars would mount I gave up. With 80 to 90% reduced noise it's worth a try without making the car look ugly.....My cross bars look terrible with styrofoam!

Hi all, I found a Thule Crossbar setup that works for my CX-50 and wanted to share. After trying the factory roof rails I was shocked how much wind noise they created so returned them and decided to try and re-use some older Thule Aero Blade (53") bars I had from a previous car.

Since Thule hasn't certified a specific foot-pack and rail mounting kit I did some trial and error, and after trying two foot-packs and three mounting kits I finally found a solution that seems to work pretty well. It's probably not exactly perfect fit but pretty close. I ended up with the Thule Flush Rail Evo Foot Pack (item: 710601) and the Kit: 186045. The hardest part was finding the mounting kit that fits the profile of the CX-50 flush rails. The kit I ended up using is for an Audi Q5 - which appear to be a similar rail profile. I just installed them today so haven't taken them for a drive yet, but I'll report back on how wind noise is.

To me, all crossbars "look similar"!! I purchased the Snailfly brand from Amazon, around $123 with their coupon. They look nice and supported my cartop carrier from MT to CO and back just fine. I see the Audi ones on eBay for less and more in cost. But I don't understand why one would want to do that!
