RICHMOND HILL, ON, Feb. 22, 2022 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) announces pricing for the 2023 Mazda CX-50, an all-new, rugged and capable crossover SUV purpose built for the North American market and active lifestyle. The CX-50 is the first Mazda vehicle built in the U.S. at the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) plant in Huntsville, Alabama, and combines superior on-road driving dynamics and sophisticated design, a signature of any Mazda vehicle, while enabling drivers to venture further into the outdoors and off-road. CX-50 will be available at Mazda retailers across the country in May with a starting MSRP of $37,900, and a turbocharged model is available at $45,350.

1. Interesting to see the differences b/w the US and Canadian versions. Far fewer trim levels in Canada, and somewhat odd (to me at least) that the paint is cheaper.

2. The Canadian release specifically says "will be available at Mazda retailers across the country in May," whereas the US release doesn't mention timing.

I'd have to imagine it will be around the same time in the US as it is in Canada. But that is odd that it's more clear in the Canadian press release.

Wow Canada is getting only the premium models compared to the American lineup.

did some checking on the competition here in Canada vs the CX-50 with regards the MSRP, however as we don't have all the full specs on the CX-50 yet it's a bit hard to tell for a more accurate comparison, but I've took a quick look at a few possible competing models to see how it stacks up on MSRP. As you can see it's not out of line, also you have to compare as to how they are equipped in features, also this is 2023 pricing vs 2022 pricing on all the other competing models.

2023 CX-50:
GS-L - $37,900
GT - $42,850
GT Turbo - $45,350

2022 Honda CR-V: (all with 1.5L turbo and CVT)
Sport - $37,470
Touring - $42,870
Black Edition - $44,670

2022 Ford Escape: (2.0L turbo, 8 spd)
Titanium - $40,149

2022 Toyota RAV4: (2.5L, 8 spd)
Trail - $38,350
Limited - $42,850
